When a company says they "background check" their technicians.. do they actually mean it?🏠🔒

Many national franchise chains advertise strictly that all their technicians are background-checked and vetted. But time and time again during our hiring process, candidates apply to us straight from these big-name franchises and completely fail the rigorous background checks we run at Small Jobs Electric.

How does that happen? Because many corporate chains run surface-level checks or cut corners to fill vans and hit quotas.
At Small Jobs Electric, your family's safety and peace of mind come first. We don't compromise our hiring standards for anyone. If a technician wouldn't be trusted in our own homes with our own families, they will never step foot inside yours.

Is a company with a 100% flawless 5-star review record too good to be true? Most of the time, yes.⭐️🚩

In this clip, we talk about the reality of online reviews in the trade industry. We are all imperfect humans, and pleasing every single person 100% of the time is virtually impossible.

When a brand-new company suddenly has dozens of glowing 5-star ratings with zero constructive feedback, chances are their mom, brother, best friend, and 15th cousin removed left those reviews to help them launch.

True reputation isn't about hiding behind fake perfection—it’s about consistently doing great work, owning up to mistakes if they happen, and serving your community with authentic integrity.

Ever hired a contractor who claims to do plumbing, roofing, dry-walling and complex electrical panel repairs all in the same week? 🛠️⚡

There’s a reason for the old saying: "Jack of all trades, master of none." In the trade industry, some companies try to be everything to everyone sending a tech who is moonlighting as an electrician today and doing plumbing work tomorrow.

When it comes to electrical safety in your home, "good enough" or DIY-level guesswork isn't an option. At Small Jobs Electric, we don't try to be plumbers or HVAC technicians. We specialize exclusively in residential electrical work. Because we focus 100% of our training and daily work on residential wiring, troubleshooting, and safety, our customers get dedicated experts who master their specific craft every single day.

Did you know an electrical issue in a 1950s Forest Hills home requires a completely different approach than a newer build in Westchase or Wesley Chapel?🏠⚡

Tampa isn't just one monolithic city it’s a collection of unique neighborhoods, each built during different eras under very different electrical codes and standards.

Whether it's the vintage wiring nuances of South Tampa, mid-century panels in Carrollwood and Forest Hills, or modern setups in Westchase and Wesley Chapel, having an electrician who grew up watching these areas get built makes all the difference.

At Small Jobs Electric, we know the history behind the walls of your specific neighborhood. That localized knowledge means faster troubleshooting, safer repairs, and zero guesswork for your home.

Need a local electrician who knows your neighborhood inside and out?👉

Think you’re supporting a local, family-owned business when you hire a contractor? Look a little closer.🏢⚠️

Across the country, massive out-of-state conglomerates and private equity firms are quietly buying up independent, mom-and-pop electrical, plumbing, and HVAC companies.

The catch? They keep the original founder's name on the building, keep the "Established in 1986" sticker on the van, and pretend nothing changed. But behind the scenes, the local family is gone. You are now dealing with corporate management, out-of-state call centers, and technicians trained to hit strict sales quotas to satisfy distant investors and shareholders.

At Small Jobs Electric, when we say we’re local and family-owned, we mean it literally. No hedge funds. No corporate boards. Just real people serving our local community.

Have you ever taken a "temporary" job just to help someone out for a few weeks... and ended up staying for over two decades?📞⚡

Back in 2004, the team needed a hand taking customer calls for the summer. It was supposed to be a simple, 6-week gig helping out around the office.

Fast forward 22 years later, and that "temporary" summer help is still here, still answering the phones, and still keeping the wheels turning at Small Jobs Electric!

In an industry where people jump from job to job every couple of years, having team members who have been here for over two decades is a testament to the family culture we’ve built and it means when you call us, you’re talking to someone who truly knows this business inside and out.

Have you ever done something as a kid that you immediately regretted? For me, it was pulling the fire alarm in a literal courthouse.🚨

I wasn't even a mischievous kid! I was just five years old, saw the red handle, and let the intrusive thoughts win. In this clip, I’m telling the infamous story of the time I single-handedly evacuated a courthouse, brought out the entire fire department, and had to stand perfectly still while my mom gave me the ultimate "I know it was you" look.

Hey, at least we gave the courthouse fire system a really solid test run, right?👇

Let's hear it in the comments: What is the worst thing you did as a kid that you absolutely thought you got away with?

What happens when you miss the kindergarten cutoff in Tampa? If your dad is a master electrician, you grab a screwdriver and head to the job site!🛠️

In this throwback clip, Nathano shares the hilarious and heartwarming story of his very first year as an "apprentice." Because a September birthday meant missing the school cutoff, he spent his 5-year-old year riding along in the work van and learning how to assemble ceiling fan blades.

While the rules (and safety regulations!) on job sites have definitely changed since then, getting that early, hands-on exposure laid the foundation for a lifetime of electrical expertise and a deep love for the family business.

When we say we've been doing this our whole lives, we mean it! For expert, trusted residential electrical service in Tampa Bay.
