Just wanted to thank everyone who came out to see Lisa Carver on Monday evening. Appearing with her were Rachael Penn and Naomi Hannah. We had a fabulous turnout and an absolutely amazing show with a full house. We ended up raising over $2000 for DreamTree/Nest here in our local community. Special thanks to Ted and Shelly for your more than generous donations. It takes a village and the village showed up. Once again, many thanks.

Lisa Carver will be performing at Salon Sage, Monday, November 17th. Doors open at 6pm.
$10-$15 at the door. All proceeds go to DreamTree/Nest.
Carver was born in Charleston, South Carolina, but spent her early years on a religious commune in southeast Alaska, inspired by the rugged beauty that surrounded. Carver’s goal as a girl was to get to what she considered the songwriting Mecca of Nashville to write her songs and learn from her heroes. She spent years there as an independent artist and as a staff writer for various publishing companies, starting with Sony/BigAlpha. Besides honing her songwriting talent, she began to perform live shows and had the honor of having her songs cut by other artists such as Jewel/Dolly Parton, Wynonna, Sugarland, Julie Roberts, and Brothers Osborne. Carver has had songs placed on TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, One Life To Live, and Army Wives. Carver moved to Taos, New Mexico in the summer of 2015, drawn by the high desert magic and the free spirits. Carver took some time away from writing and performing, and is happy to be back to doing both with renewed passion and gratitude.

Performance bio

Rachael is a board-certified music therapist who is passionate about supporting the creative process and artistic expression of individuals of all ages and skill levels. She believes that music has long served as a vital force across cultures—fostering community vitality, individual belonging, through building bridges of understanding.

An active member of the Taos music community, Rachael performs as a violinist, singer, and songwriter with several ensembles and collaborates widely with local musicians. Her solo work draws on Jewish folk traditions, bluegrass, and ballad singing—highlighting the voices of early female pioneers in these genres—and includes old-time fiddle, solo banjo, and traditional folk repertoire.

In addition to performing, Rachael teaches private lessons, and group lessons in the schools, and provides music therapy services that help individuals connect, express themselves creatively, heal, and grow through music.

So excited that Rachael Penn will be playing with Lisa Carver next Monday, the 17th at Salon Sage. Doors open at 6pm. 10-$15. Proceeds are going to Dreamtree/Nest.

Susan That Girl For Hair

I love, love, love what I do! I’m so grateful for all the years I’ve done hair and still loving it. My clients are all so wonderful. They are much more than clients--I consider them my friends! Thank you so much for all your love and support. I got started in the hair business as a teen, if you can believe it! Here’s how it all came together...

Coming of age on the beaches of Southern California, Susan Potter had great hair! She was a hair show model at the age of 18 and fell in love with the passion the hairdressers had for their craft. That's when she realized she would love a career in the beauty industry. Helping women feel lovely about themselves gives her great satisfaction. "I am fortunate enough to be in an industry that I've enjoyed every moment of it. Passion, art, color chemistry, fashion, helping to build one's self esteem is so exciting. And, it happens every single day for the people who sit in my chair."

Since those early days in Southern California as a hair model, Susan has built nearly 40 years of experience as a stylist, salon owner and professional color educator. She owned and operated six salons in California before moving her family and opening a salon in New Mexico where she fell in love with the art and culture of the state. "I have been in New Mexico for 16 years now; my daughter, her husband and my grandkids live in Taos so I spend a lot of time here with them. I just love the music, arts and entertainment, and the community of Taos so much that I decided it was time to make it my home."

As a Paul Mitchell Color Educator, Susan spent many years sharing tips and tricks with stylists at seminars across the country. A highly skilled colorist, Susan was known for offering techniques, new ideas, fresh perspectives, and challenging concepts to her attendees. "The industry changes constantly and is always evolving. Stylists and colorists must continue to educate themselves and stay current with trends. This is a passion for me."
