At Mesa's Edge today, we'd like to celebrate our Indigenous artists with their new holiday. We want to thank all of you who help make our gallery a success wtih your wonderful artwork. Indigenous Peoples' Day is a holiday that celebrates and honors Native American People and commemorates their histories and cultures. On Oct 8th 2021, President Biden signed a presidential proclamation declaring Oct 11th to be a national holiday. It is celebrated across the United States on the second Monday in October. And to those artists and customers who don't have a holiday celebrating you and your culture, we thank you too, for helping make Mesa's Edge successful! In our eyes, you are all wonderful folks!

Mesa’s Edge is pleased to present the launch of “The Art of Stamping” by Matthieu Cheminée, with an opening reception Saturday, February 15th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at 107-A North Plaza, Taos, New Mexico, 575-758-3455

In “The Art of Stamping”, Cheminée explores the history, technique and jewelers from around the world who have elevated stamping to the art form it is today. In his exploration, Cheminée traces his life as a jeweler from the age of 18 in Taos with his first stamped cuff bracelet to West Africa where he worked with the Touareg jewelers.
A majority of the stamp work featured in the book
comes from the American Southwest. Particularly from Taos and other places in New Mexico.

Taos Pueblo jeweler Sonny Spruce speaks of his journey in stampwork. Of course, a book on stampwork is not complete without mentioning Navajo artists whom the craft is synonymous with.

Come meet the author, Matthieu Cheminée on February 15th from 5:30-7:30. Copies of “The Art of Stamping” will be available for purchase at this time. Gallery hours are Monday – Sunday 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Spring is on it's way! We always have new pieces coming in the galleries and Leo Salazar has been making new Santos...a few large pieces; a Moses and Aaron combination that is over 5 ft tall which is a collaboration with another local Santero, Luis Barela. It's at the Plaza location. Yesterday, Leo brought in a large St Francis to the TSV gallery and a couple of other smaller ones. The St Francis is carved from an ancient juniper fencepost, complete with old barbed wire that the wood had grown around. It is 4 ft tall. These pieces are just wonderful, come by and check them out!
