Ok y’all, here’s the facts.
Small business ownership is hard even when sales are good. And in full transparency, these last 6 months have seen a major dip in sales - but it’s not just me. These quiet months are being seen by the majority of business owners, but unfortunately it’s the mom and pop shops that feel it the most. Many of us bank on a successful holiday season to see us through the quieter months of January and February, and that’s just not the case this year.
So if you’ve ever thought “I should check out x small business”, “maybe a local shop carries this?” “I think I’m sick of shopping at big box stores, and want to spend my money where it matters” now’s the time to act on them. And if you don’t have the money to shop right now, trust me, we get it! Here’s other ways you can help without opening your wallet:
✨Engage with our social media posts (like, comment, share) to boost them so more people can see them
✨talk about your favorite small businesses to your friends, family, your neighbor down the street, and postman.
✨take 2-mins and write a google review (think how often you use reviews to decide where to eat/shop!)
✨when writing to Santa, ask for gift cards to local businesses.
Don’t forget, many small businesses offer online shopping and/or delivery. So make sure to ask if you can’t make it into the shop!
