When we started our business 8 years ago, we had no idea what it had in store for us. All the ups and downs, the successes and failures, the laughs and cries, the opportunities and roadblocks, the memories and forgetfulness, and the excitements and disappointments. It’s been an incredible journey and learning opportunity for our family, and we wouldn’t trade it for the world.
But, learning everything we’ve learned, and reflecting on these last 8 years, has really given us the perspective to assess our current business situation and what’s sustainable vs. what just isn’t.
Our business has been thriving in the background for the last 15 months with our wholesale side, so we shifted our focus there. Some folks noticed our truck isn’t at the Detroit Zoo this year. Others asked why we hadn’t done the events we used to do. Others just think we closed down.
The truth is, with the cost of inflation, attendance at events drastically decreasing since Covid, and the frugal spending habits we’ve noticed from patrons:
it just doesn’t make sense for us to continue the operation of The Poppin’ & Mixin’ Kettle Corn Truck.
After all the blood, sweat, and tears we’ve poured into our truck, it’s a decision that didn’t come easy, and it hurts us to the core! However, we feel this is the best decision for our business considering where we currently are and what the near future is showing.
However, this doesn’t mean our kettle corn is gone forever. We are still in business 100% and there’s still an opportunity for you to get your hands on it. Just contact us whenever you have a craving!!

We’d like to thank all our customers over the years for telling us how amazing our popcorn is. Who’s come to events to tell us we are the only reason they come. All the smiles and excitement we’ve been able to provide. Those are memories that we will never forget and are what makes everything we’ve endured, worth it. We’d like to thank the Detroit Zoo and all the festivals, fairs, and committees who gave us the opportunities. We’d like to thank our family and friends who dedicated so much to help. We’d like to thank our staff and all past employees who contributed and were always there to provide assistance and support.
We will be doing our last “farewell” event at the Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony at Campus Martius TONIGHT!!!. We would love it if you all could stop by and bid the truck a pleasant farewell.
