🍉🍇 SERIOUS QUESTION… WHERE DID ALL THE SEEDS GO?😂

I’ve been thinking about this for a while now.

It seems like every time I go into the supermarket looking for fruit, I see more and more SEEDLESS.

Seedless watermelon.
Seedless grapes.
Seedless this. Seedless that.

And apparently I’m one of the people nobody consulted. 😂

Maybe it’s because I grew up in Trinidad, but I remember fruit having SEEDS. You ate the fruit, dealt with the seeds and continued with your life. 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

Especially watermelon!

Give me that sweet watermelon with those big black seeds that you had to spit out. 🍉😂 I don't know why, but in my mind it just feels like watermelon.

Now before anybody turns this into a science war 😂 — I'm not saying seedless fruit is automatically GMO, dangerous, fake or anything like that. I actually went looking for the facts, and seedless fruit has been around for a very long time.

What surprised me is just how much the commercial fruit market has shifted toward it.

And THAT made me curious.

When did “seedless” go from being another choice to sometimes feeling like the only choice?

Maybe plenty of people love the convenience. Nothing wrong with that.

I just want my seeded fruit option too! 😂

So now I'm curious, especially about my people living outside the U.S.:

🇹🇹 Trinidad & the Caribbean
🇨🇦 Canada
🇲🇽 Mexico
🇬🇧 England
🇪🇺 Europe
🌍 Africa
🌏 Asia

What are you seeing where YOU live?

Are your supermarkets and fruit markets mostly selling seedless fruit now too?

And everybody else — which team are you?

🍉 TEAM SEEDS — fruit supposed to have seeds!😂

or

🍉 TEAM SEEDLESS — I came to eat, not fight with a watermelon!

Because apparently I have discovered something else I'm old-fashioned about. 😂😂😂

BLACK INNOVATION YOU SHOULD KNOW

Xavior & Ilyaas Motley — The Dream Started Before the Glove

Sometimes the interesting part of an invention isn’t what was created.
It’s what somebody was willing to give up to find out if the crazy idea in their head could actually work.

Twin brothers Xavior and Ilyaas Motley were Division I football players at Ohio University. Both earned full-ride scholarships. Both became three-year starters. And both had the opportunity to return for another year of football.

They said no.

Not because football wasn’t working out — but because something else was calling them.

Years earlier, the brothers had been fascinated by the spray-on shoes in Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. And like plenty of kids, they had come home with shoes torn up from playing. But instead of leaving that movie idea on the screen, they wondered:

Could something actually be sprayed on, used for protection, and later removed?

That curiosity eventually moved from shoes… to hands.

What began as an idea around 2018 became physical prototypes, engineers, polymer research and eventually ARMA — technology they’re developing to rethink how gloves fit, function and are made. Today, their work includes both spray-on disposable glove technology and custom-fit sports gloves. Their spray-on platform remains patent-pending.

But here’s the part I really like.

These brothers didn’t suddenly wake up as inventors.

In high school, they were already selling bracelets, modifying gaming systems and fixing iPhones. Years later, when they needed money to keep developing ARMA, they even sold their car and put the money back into their dream.

That’s entrepreneurship before anybody gives you the title.

AUNTY S SAYS:
Never dismiss the child who keeps asking, “But what if we tried it this way?”
Sometimes curiosity isn’t foolishness. Sometimes you’re watching an inventor grow up.

And Xavior and Ilyaas Motley remind us that Black history isn’t only something we look back on.

Somebody is making it right now.

AUNTY S SPEAKS LIFE | WEDNESDAY

What’s the scene, good people????

Listen, can we have a grown-folks conversation about money without shame?

Sometimes the budget is budgeting.

Sometimes it absolutely is NOT. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️😂

Either way, look at it.

Know what came in. Know what went out. Cancel what you forgot you were paying for. Save something — even if today’s “something” feels small.

And if you need somewhere to start today:

1. Check your bank balance without judging yourself.
2. Write down your three biggest expenses this month.
3. Move a small amount into savings — even if it’s just $1.

Financial peace doesn’t begin when you become rich. It begins when you stop being afraid to look.

AUNTY S SAYS: I am still learning to make my money behave with purpose. But it’s “better late than never” is what my mum always said. And I truly believe that.

It’s the first day of September people, make room for something good.

Can y’all believe it’s September already? It just walked in quietly.

No big announcement. No guarantee that everything will suddenly get easier. It’s just another chance to look around your life and decide what deserves to come with you.

Maybe this month isn’t about becoming somebody new.

Maybe it’s about feeling like yourself again — clearer, lighter, stronger and a little more hopeful than you were yesterday.

Welcome, September.
I’m making room for good things this month. As the new growth showing in my plants, I make room for the new growth sprouting in my life.

Aunty S says: Don’t rush the new chapter. Live it.

🇹🇹 WE TRINI.

We are a joyful people. A loving people. We lime, we laugh, we fete, we cook too much food, and somehow there is always room for one more. ❤️

But don’t mistake our joy for weakness.

Try to divide us—we find our way back to each other.
Try to keep us down—we rise stronger.
And try to erase our history? History done write already.

This little twin-island nation gave the world the steelpan—the only new acoustic instrument created in the 20th century. We gave birth to calypso and soca, and created a Carnival whose spirit has travelled across the globe.

That cannot be erased.

Because our culture doesn’t only live in books.
It lives in we.

In the pan. In the rhythm. In the mas. In the food. In the laughter. In the way a Trini could meet another Trini halfway across the world and suddenly—family. 😂🇹🇹

We may disagree. Lord knows we does disagree!
But when it matters?

We Trini. We Tobago. We one.

As Independence Day approaches, may we remember that what makes Trinidad & Tobago extraordinary isn’t only where we’ve been—

it’s the spirit of the people who keep carrying her forward.

🇹🇹 Rooted in history. Living our legacy. And still rising.

AUNTY S SPEAKS LIFE | SATURDAY

Stop measuring your life with somebody else’s ruler.

Their marriage, money, body, business, house, followers or highlight reel has absolutely nothing to do with your timing.

Some seasons bloom loudly.
Others are building roots where nobody can applaud them.

And sometimes God is doing the deepest work in the part of your life nobody can see yet.

Keep going. Your life does not need an audience to have value.

THE AUNTY S SAYS: I am not behind. I am becoming.
