Lauck LongRifles

Lauck LongRifles I’m a 6th generation flintlock enthusiast. My family has been involved in building muzzleloaders since 1783.

I begin with a high quality Kibler Parts, and finish the wood/metal by hand. I also do historic style hand engraving on the metal.

My latest project turned out as planned. I wish I was better at taking pictures from start to finish, but I’m terrible.
I took it to the monthly club shoot to sight it in, it shot like a dream.
I love the beat up look of a simple rifle.

On July 6, 1802 Daniel Morgan passed away on his 66th birthday, at his home in Wi******er, Virginia.
Daniel Morgan was revered by his Riflemen, as a leader and as man.
Upon his passing some of his remaining men made silver cups to honor Morgan.
Today only three of those silver cups are known to exist.
The only one I know of has an “H” engraved on the side. This cup likely belonged to Adam Heiskell, one of his “Dutch Mess” members.
The first pictures are the original silver cup with the “H” engraved on the side.
The second pictures are of a cup I found at a flea market and engraved to match, only I used a “L”.

Carlos Hathcock was a 1st Marine Division Sniper, stationed at Hill 55, South of Da Nang.
This is where Hathcock would earn the nickname “White Feather” — because he always wore a white feather on his bush hat, daring the North Vietnamese to spot him — and where he would achieve his status as the Vietnam War’s deadliest sniper.
Happy Birthday Carlos Hathcock a true American Legend…….

The top side plate is a rendition of an original Beck Rifle from the Revolutionary War era.
I wanted it to be more of an original look as if it was done with a chisel by candlelight.
I tried a new graver on this plate, it definitely has a learning curve but I got my chisel by candle light look on the boarder.
The other two sideplates I engraved from Revolutionary War themed material, and used my old graver that I’m more comfortable with.
A fine day in the shop.

Tried a couple different techniques today.
