Every once in awhile, I make something for my own table. The first (and only, so far) dahlia bloom of the season called for it!

It feels like this little bloom has been a year in the making, between picking out what varieties to plant (how do you even choose?!), ordering, waking up tubers, transplanting, fertilizing, obsessing, netting, obsessing more, and finally…. Spotting a bloom!

I’ve been watching this one open for the past two weeks with great anticipation. She’s simple, but special to me, and I can’t wait to see the rest of them bloom.

So here’s to the first dahlia bloom 🥂 and the beginning of the end of the 2026 flower season. I can’t wait to stuff your bouquets full of these beauties in the weeks to come! 💐

☀️ July is slowly slipping away into August… ☀️
For us flower farmers, that means our gardens are absolutely feral, but there are zero big flower holidays or occasions on the horizon.

🤔 I’m not sure who decided this, but I feel like Mother’s Day would be much better suited for mid summer, when I could hold a huge bouquet of fresh flowers in one hand, a margarita in the other, and be planted on a beach somewhere… but anyways….

*IF* you need an ✨ excuse ✨ to buy some flowers in the next few weeks, let me give you some reasons:

🌼 parents, you’ve made it more than halfway through summer; celebrate.
🌹 it’s only 80 degrees instead of 110
🌺 you just survived another trip to Walmart with your kids
🌼 it rained, and the flowers are happy
🌹 school supply shopping hasn’t started… yet
🌺 you finally folded that laundry
🌼 your kitchen counter has been looking a little sad
🌹 you have company coming
🌺 the company finally left
🌼 your friend / mom / girlfriend / wife / neighbor deserves a surprise
🌹 flowers are cheaper than therapy
🌺 just because… the flowers are at their peak, and you like pretty things! 💕
