Diversity In Dentistry]

Posted • “America is becoming more diverse, and as a result it only makes sense that our patient population is too,” writes Dr. Walter Fuentes. “In order to mitigate access to care issues, we need the dental field to be more representative of the population we serve. Marginalized communities such as the Hispanic, Black, and Native American populations experience iatrophobia, but having more healthcare providers from these backgrounds can help alleviate these communities’ mistrust in the healthcare system.”

Today Mikayla attended summit today.
It was absolutely amazing and incredibly insightful. She learned so much about Dentistry, and the different paths available from professionals that look just like her.

I highly encourage you all to look into the program for your children.

・・・
Meet Mikayla and Kennedy - the owners & operators of Ken & Kate's Sno-Cones 🍧 [] in Arizona.
—
Two bright young ladies who decided they wanted to start their very own shaved ice and snow cone business. 💚 After ordering shaved ice from a local festival vendor in 2015 the girls asked "Mom, Is this just ice and syrup?" To which mom replied "Yes." From that day on the girls decided they could sell snow cones too.
—
They started with a small home-use machine but since then have expanded. They have particpated as vendors at little league games, city events, the Arizona Children's Business Fair and were even on ABC15 Sonoran Living.
—
The girls are currently looking forward to a Back2School event booked at the end of July and hope to expand their business to a small trailer one day. 👍🏾

Nice Work Mikayla and Kennedy! Thank you for being awesome customers! 😄
