Happy birthday to Luxie, we’re 13 years old today! Take 25% off in store and online with coupon code LUXIE13. Today also marks 20 years since I started selling vintage. The past 13 years as Luxie Vintage, the first 7 years as Meat Market Vintage, 2 brick & mortar shops, a warehouse workspace, one million photo shoots and all sorts of totally wild memories over the 20 years!
In case you were wondering, Luxie was my nickname in high school. My sister and I wanted to start a band and we each picked out stage names based off punk icons, then we made them more girlie girl sounding. I picked the name Luxie from Lux Interior from The Cramps. The nickname stuck ever since, our band did not stick!
Scroll for a very small snapshot into the past 20 years. There are lots of important people missing from this, I might have to do a whole second post for more moments down memory lane!
2023 during a photo shoot. Adrianne has been the face of Luxie since day one. She was even with me back in my Meat Market days! Our first photo shoot together was in 2011.
2023 with Adrianne Hanson and Holly at our Tempe shop’s 2 year anniversary party. Alyssa Jane made this awesome photo booth for the party (footnote: Alyssa also worked at Luxie for a short period of time!).
2025 on location with sadie for one of our bridal shoots! We picked this spot about 5 minutes before arriving to it and had a small crowd of people watching us fumble through it.
2026 Sophie wearing a show stopping 1940s tiered ruffle dress.
January 2021 when I officially got the keys for Luxie’s brick & mortar space (the one we’re in today). I swore I would never open a brick & mortar again, but over time I definitely missed certain aspects about having a physical retail shop.
2021 with Mykala B during one of the many photo shoots at my house. When I was out of space for inventory, we would just use the racks and piles of clothing as the background.
2020 during a flat lay day. One of the things I really miss about the way old days of selling vintage was when social media didn’t play such a demanding role.
2020 Holly working double duty back at my house when we were online only.
