The heat index was 110 when I took this. I immediately thought, "I know how you feel."

These are a few volunteer zinnias that came up on their own. I especially like the ruddy (I guess) red one.

Male bees getting ready for bed on the Jewels of Opar like a bee frat house. Because they don't live in a hive, they latch onto the stems to sleep. They also tend to congregate like this and often prefer same spot night after night. I grow these as filler for my bouquets, but the bees apparently use them as beds. The consensus on iNaturalist is that these might be Two-spotted Longhorn Bees. Either way, it was interesting to see them all hanging out.

Meet the zinnia that out-grew me. I'm almost 6ft tall and couldn't reach the top of this one with my arm fully extended. I grow cut flowers and bring fresh bunches to Gateway Farmers Market most Saturdays - follow along for what's blooming, and come say hi at my table!
