Hey everyone,

Every weekend, we see and hear about the negative things that happen at baseball games, at every level of the game.

But what we don’t hear nearly enough about are all the good things happening at ballparks every single weekend.

The coach who stays late to help a player.
The teammate who picks someone up after a tough game.
The umpire who takes a second to encourage a kid.
A first hit. A first game. A grandfather taking another generation to the ballpark.
A family spending the entire weekend together at a tournament.
Or just a parent and child playing catch.

Those stories matter too.

So I created something new at The Craftsman’s Works called Weekend at the Ballpark.

I want to use this platform to help celebrate and share the moments that remind us why we love this game in the first place.

Quick 4-Step Glove Check Before the Weekend ⚾

Before you head to the field, take a few minutes and make sure your glove is GAME READY:

1️⃣ INSPECT THE LACES
Look and feel for wear, fraying, or damage. Give the laces a light tug to make sure everything is still secure, especially around the web and fingers.

2️⃣ CLEAN
Remove loose dirt and buildup. You don’t need to soak the glove or attack it with heavy soap—a quick wipe-down with Leather Spot Cleaner is usually all you need.

3️⃣ PROTECT — IF NEEDED
If you cleaned the glove, the leather feels dry, or you’re expecting especially wet, hot, or sunny conditions, apply a light coat of Glove Salve. Give it enough time to absorb and dry before taking the field.

4️⃣ TAKE CARE OF IT AFTER THE TOURNAMENT
When the weekend is over, wipe away the dirt and sweat with Leather Spot Cleaner, then use Glove Lotion as needed to condition the leather and keep it ready for the next game.

A few minutes before and after the weekend can go a long way toward keeping a glove in great shape.

A quick check to make sure your glove is game ready before this weekend!
1) Inspect the laces. Visual inspection for damage and a quick light tug to check for performance.
2) Clean. Keeping it clean can help performance. A quick wipe down with Leather Spot Cleaner.
3) Protect. If you clean, and especially if you are playing in the rain or extreme heat and sun, a light coat of Glove Salve applied will be great. Allow time for it to soak in before play.
4) Clean and Condition after!
