Things I’ve had to do this week because I own the business that are not so creative and fun.

-Renewing my Trademark: Because apparently, once you build something, you also have to periodically prove you still own it by paying a wad every five years. And let me tell you, the website is NOT easy. I’ve also received 15 letters from attorneys this past week wanting to do it for me since my renewal came up today. Double and triple the bill if I have them do it for me—nope.

-PCI Compliance Tests: It’s basically a security assessment test used to verify if I’m storing card data and if we meet the requirements of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). It’s every year, takes about an hour and can make you feel like you’re going to jail in half a second. I have to study up on all my IT and security questions before I take it.

Owning a business means you have to wear tons of hats, all at the same time. Sometimes I drop a hat or two but I try to keep them all spinning at the same time. I wrote this to say, I paid my Trademark renewal fee tonight and felt like venting to you all! 😂 I could have basically bought a used car, but no, I chose my legacy instead.
