🎶 Tomorrow night, Downtown Thomson is the place to be!

The Blind Willie McTell Music Festival weekend is kicking off with a FREE concert at the Depot — and if you haven’t experienced live music right here in downtown with everybody gathered around, lawn chairs out, businesses open, and people just enjoying our little town… you really should. ❤️

And y’all know how we feel about seeing downtown full of people. After the energy we saw downtown last weekend, we’d LOVE to see it packed again tomorrow night!

So grab a lawn chair, grab your people, come downtown a little early, wander through the shops, find something good to eat, and then settle in for some FREE live music. 🎶

The concert starts at 7 PM, but there’s absolutely no reason to wait until 7 to come downtown. 😉

Apparently our artists have been BUSY while I wasn’t looking. 👀😂

Seriously…every time I turn around somebody is walking through the door with another bag, box, basket or armload of something they’ve made.

And I am absolutely NOT complaining. 😂

One of my favorite things about having a handmade shop is that I never really know what’s going to show up next. Everybody creates something different, everybody has their own style, and somehow when you put it all together…it works.

We’ve had SO many new things come in lately that there is no chance I could fit everything into one post—so consider these pictures your little sneak peek. 👀

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day, y’all!

Today is for the workers. The early risers. The late closers. The folks working two jobs, building something of their own, raising families, keeping businesses running, and somehow still figuring out what’s for supper. 😂

Around here, we know a little something about hard work—and we know Downtown Thomson is FULL of people who work their tails off every single day.

So today, whether you’re actually getting a day off or you’re one of those people thinking, “Wait…y’all get Labor Day OFF?!” 😂 — we hope you have a good one.

❤️ Enjoy your Labor Day. Spend some time with your people. Eat something good. And maybe, just maybe, don’t work TOO hard today.

Yesterday, Downtown Thomson felt ALIVE. ❤️

And that had everything to do with YOU.

You came downtown.

You walked the sidewalks. You wandered into stores—some you already knew and some you may have never visited before.

You shopped. You ate. You explored.

Your kids played.

You laughed.

You talked to each other.

Heck, some of you were even singing along with the music. 😂❤️

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, something pretty special happened.

Downtown felt alive.

Not because of an event or some huge production.

Because YOU were here.

Throughout the day, I heard people talking about where they’d already been and where they were headed next. Business owners were sending people to their neighbors. Customers were telling other customers where they needed to go.

And later, I heard someone say:

“Downtown felt alive today.”

I’ve thought about those words ever since.

Because a downtown isn’t made by buildings.

It isn’t made by storefronts, signs or sidewalks.

It’s made by people.

People opening those doors, walking those sidewalks, bringing their families, supporting the businesses inside those buildings and making memories along the way.

Yesterday, YOU made Downtown Thomson feel alive. ❤️

So to every single person who spent part of their Saturday downtown—whether you bought something, grabbed something to eat, wandered through a shop, brought the kids, stopped to talk, or simply came to see what was going on…

Thank you.

You may not realize what it means to the people behind those storefronts to see our downtown filled with life like that.

But I promise you…

we noticed. ❤️

And we hope you’ll come back and do it again.

Y’all know I’m REALLY good at keeping secrets… 👀😂

I mean, I managed to keep my mouth shut about a certain tiny guitar hiding in Rabuns Rustic Creations this week, and if you know me at all, you know that was an accomplishment. 😂🎸

But apparently… that wasn’t the only thing I’ve been keeping to myself.

I’ve been getting pretty creative this week—and it wasn’t JUST about all the new things I’ve been making. 👀

Today we’re breaking out the MYSTERY ENVELOPES! ✉️👀

And before you start looking through the pictures trying to find them… you can stop. 😂

I haven’t even made them yet!

I’ll be putting them together when I get to the shop this morning, and starting at 11, we’ll be handing them out throughout the day with purchases.

So whether you stop in this morning or later this afternoon, you’ve still got a chance to snag one!

Well… today got productive REAL fast. 😂

It’s not even the end of the day yet and somehow I’ve already:

🍂 Made AND put out some new fall/spooky season earrings — and yes, because apparently regular earrings aren’t enough around here, some of them GLOW IN THE DARK. 👻✨

🎨 Made plaster paint kits!
Were these what I originally had planned for those plaster pieces? Nope. 😂 But while I’m working on the rest of that idea (hopefully ready next week 👀), I decided they were way too cute not to do something with.

☕ Made some new coffee mugs — and I feel like “I’m not crazy, I’m mentally spicy” may explain a few things around here. 😂

And apparently today’s magic number is 8, because EVERYTHING I made and put out today is $8 EACH! 🙌

Earrings? $8.
Paint kits? $8.
Mugs? $8.

Did I plan that? Absolutely not.
Are we going with it? Absolutely. 😂

And the day isn’t over yet… which is probably dangerous.

Today’s forecast at Rabuns Rustic Creations: 100% chance of CHAOS. 😂

I have a plan for today.

Is it a good plan? Probably.

Will I actually follow it? Probably not. 😂

Mike was in the shop yesterday and apparently decided there were entirely too many empty molds around here… so I already have resin pieces waiting on me when I get there. 👀

Meanwhile, BettyJo Art is bringing in MORE PUMPKINS to refill the pumpkin patch because y’all have been picking that thing like fall depends on it. 🎃😂

Other artists have been sneaking new goodies into the shop all week…

I need to keep experimenting with those plaster pieces…

I want to pour more resin…

There are things to unmold…

And I am approximately one new idea away from completely abandoning whatever plan I started with.

So, you know…

A normal day at Rabuns Rustic Creations. 😂
