To us, that means collaboration, shared growth, and mutual support.
Here in Thousand Oaks, we have three very different thrift stores within walking distance — Project ReWear, the ALC, and The Mad Attic.
Three different experiences, three different missions, and a pretty great way to spend a day thrifting. 🙂
The ALC is part of a large National organization with approximately 95 stores, they support both our local community and their national organization, a large part of their giving is through Operation School Bell.
The Mad Attic is a teeny tiny store that has supported community and been around since 1960. They raise money to support many local charities and St Patricks Church who recently took over managing the store.
Then there's Project ReWear. Two moms who saw a huge problem - copious amounts of donated items ending up in landfills — and decided to change it. Along with supporting unhoused individuals and families in LA via our partnership with and giving back to our local community, our mission is to keep items in circulation and out of landfills.
Fun fact: One of our founders volunteered at The Mad Attic for 10 years and served as Volunteer Board President for six, leading an incredible board and their volunteer team to turn it into a thriving operation that gave hundreds of thousands of dollars back to the community - leaving $188k to give back when she moved on.

And the best part? The Mad Attic is where Linda and Kim met. 🙂
We bonded over a love of thrifting and eventually a much bigger idea - changing how we think about secondhand items and their impact on our planet.
Sometimes the best things really do start at a thrift store. 🤍
