🪕 Music education, old-time tradition, and a banjo with a purpose.

The 18th Annual Foster Old-Time Music Weekend is coming September 11–13 to Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs, Florida.

We’re proud to support this year’s event with a Gold Tone CC-Carlin banjo, which will go to a deserving student, with proceeds helping fund future scholarships for the camp.

The weekend features small-group classes and individual instruction in banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and harmonica, along with jams, workshops, group activities, and faculty concerts.

This year’s featured artists are The Stones River Reelers, joined by an outstanding lineup of Florida faculty.

At this year’s Blue Ridge Banjo Camp, Béla Fleck opened up about maintaining artistic inspiration over a lifelong career. From contrasting his love for new projects with Abigail Washburn’s (and Doc Watson’s) deep-dive approach to classic repertoire, to sharing Chick Corea’s advice on 'Inputting vs. Outputting'—there’s a lesson here for every creator.

💡 The big take-away: When you’re inspired, focus on outputting what’s in your head. When you’re feeling dry, go listen to something new and refill your cup!

There’s something pretty special about seeing Gold Tone instruments become part of a musician’s creative world. 🪕🎸

Marlon Gibbons, a composer for TV and film, recently shared this photo of his Gold Tone collection and told us how much our instruments have become a part of his work.

His CC-Banjitar and OM-800 were both VIPs on his latest album, helping him create the organic, human-made sounds he’s passionate about.
