I got it out the grit.
This Better Business Bureau plaque means more to me than people will ever understand.
I wasn’t handed a damn thing.
I built Jessthebest Arts while trying to survive.
Homelessness.
Car accidents.
Physical therapy after physical therapy.
Losing my mom.
Losing people I loved.
Starting over more times than I can count.
Some days I didn’t know where I was gonna sleep, but I’d still be making necklaces.
I’d still be writing songs.
I’d still be drawing coloring pages.
I’d still be digging through broken glass, old spoons, scrap metal, and pieces everyone else threw away—because I saw beauty where other people saw trash.
That’s kind of how I learned to see myself too.
I didn’t have investors.
I didn’t have rich parents.
I didn’t have a perfect studio.
I had grit.
I had a truck full of tools.
I had busted hands, sleepless nights, and a stubborn belief that if I just kept creating, eventually life would meet me halfway.
So this plaque isn’t about being “successful.”
It’s proof that I refused to quit.
It’s for every necklace I gave away because someone needed hope more than I needed ten bucks.
It’s for every song I wrote instead of giving up.
It’s for every coloring page that helped someone breathe.
It’s for every mile I drove chasing one more art show.
People see the plaque.
I see every scar behind it.
This didn’t come from luck.
It came from grit.
And if you’ve ever supported Jessthebest Arts—bought a piece, shared a post, wore one of my necklaces, or simply believed in me when life was trying to break me…
Thank you.
We built this.
I got it out the grit. 🛠️💛
