Here's a fun one for Halloween as it looks like something Dr. Seuss created from the Lorax. It's called Green Ball Dianthus, Dianthus cushion, or 'Green Trick'. I imagine this with some fun googly eyes and pipe cleaners as legs in a Halloween arrangement. Sometimes I throw one of these in a fall arrangement so you might get one this season.
• Ball-shaped, fuzzy, lime-to-emerald green flower heads without traditional petals or a splash of non-green color.
• Texture: Dense, cushion-like, and mossy, making it a popular floral filler or accent in modern bouquets and wedding work

Stop in the shop today from 10-2 and let us know what you think these Candlelight roses smell like. I think they smell like a Yankee candle, others say buttercream frosting, or hints of apple fragrance.

These look so amazing in bridal bouquets, sympathy arrangements, and any cut floral arrangement. They're elegant and classy. They open as a deep honey-yellow or warm cream, but gradually transform into a soft, glowing pure white as they mature over 4 to 6 days.

The flowers are exceptionally large, reaching 4 to 6 inches across. Unlike standard single-layer cut roses, Candlelight roses pack 40 to 50+ plump petals into a full, rounded cup shape.

They also have a long vase life. In arrangements or as cut flowers, they hold their freshness and beauty remarkably well, lasting anywhere from 7 to 15 days.

They feature a rich, layered scent that blends sweet fruity and classic tea-rose notes.

Sneak Peek!!!! We flexed some absolutely gorgeous white roses last night for a dramatic effect in some bonus wedding arrangements. After the bride gets to see all her arrangements I'll post more of the finished pieces.

This segment called Featured Flowers will focus on one type of flower at a time.

Picture below is a Gardenia bloom floating in water in a glass bowl. They are so fragrant that my cooler still smells so wonderful even after 5 days (they were delivered last Sunday). They're not something typically used in floral designs here in the Midwest. I had to special order them and they came 3 to a box and are on the expensive side. They are the blooms from a shrub in zones 7-11, so these did not come on a stem. They are a waxy bloom that will range from 2 to 5 inches in diameter. They are lovely floated in water or on a corsage. Gardenias are the state flower of Mississippi. In Victorian times, receiving a gardenia meant a secret romantic message that meant "You're lovely!".
Gardenias are often used as a floral note in perfumes. Typically it is synthetic due to their cost but you can find the real gardenia oils in luxury perfumes. If you ever come across a gardenia shrub, I highly encourage you to take a moment and stop and smell the flowers.
