Update on gardening 101

In my recent post, I meant to talk about a product that I think is quite special. It’s called Plant Tone organic fertilizer and our crew jokingly calls it Bill’s fertilizer and that I don’t promote it enough. While Osmocote and Jack’s fertilizer are great, especially for containers and beds, all the lovely vegetables that you saw in the video are fed with Plant Tone organic fertilizer. I use it two or three times a season spread on the soil and lightly hoed in. GREAT STUFF!

Be on the lookout for a more colorful Main Street! The city baskets and boxes will be delivered this evening! Over 2,000 wave petunia plants will soon brighten our Main Street. One exciting change this year to honor America’s 250th birthday we are doing red white and blue petunias. Here is a brief history of how they got to this point. The week of February 23rd the seeds were sown into plug trays and put under plastic until germination. They stayed in the plug trays and were hardened off until April 15th when they were planted into our bedding flats. They stayed in the bedding flats until May 18th when they were planted into the city baskets and boxes and now now heading to their final destination. Main Street!
