GOODNIGHT FROM NETTY’S SWEETS
Well… this is the post I never really wanted to write.
Tonight, we turn off the lights at Netty’s Sweets for the last time.
And I have to admit… that hurts.
When we opened those doors, we had no idea what was waiting for us on the other side. We knew we loved making chocolate. We knew we wanted to share it with people. We knew we had a dream.
What we didn’t know was how many people would become part of that dream.
We didn’t expect the familiar faces who would walk through the door just to say hello.
We didn’t expect the customers who would become friends.
We didn’t expect people to bring us vegetables from their gardens, little handwritten notes, hugs, smiles, stories, laughter, and kindness that had absolutely nothing to do with buying chocolate.
We certainly didn’t expect to become attached to so many of you.
And that is what makes tonight so difficult.
Because when you own a little shop like this, you don't just sell things.
You become part of people's lives.
You remember what they like.
You know who is buying for their grandkids.
You hear about birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, new babies and new chapters.
You watch people walk through your door as strangers… and sometimes, somehow, they leave feeling like friends.
Those are the things we will miss.
Yes, there were hard days. There were days when the numbers didn't work, when the foot traffic wasn't there, and when we wondered if we had made the right decision.
But even on those days, there were people who reminded us that this little shop mattered.
So as we close this chapter, we don't want to focus on what didn't work.
We want to remember what did.
The laughter.
The chocolate-covered everything.
The crazy holiday seasons.
The last-minute gifts.
The conversations at the counter.
The people who stopped in just because they saw our door open.
The people who told someone else about us.
The people who kept coming back.
And every single person who supported our little dream.
We may be closing the storefront, but we are not saying goodbye to Netty’s Sweets.
We're going back to where we started — our cottage-food roots — and taking this crazy, wonderful journey with us.
So tonight, when that door closes there will probably be a few tears.
Okay… maybe more than a few.
But there will also be an enormous amount of gratitude.
Because we got to do something a lot of people never get the chance to do.
We dreamed something up… and we actually opened the door.
And for a little while, you walked through it with us.
For that, we will be grateful for a very, very long time.
So this isn't goodbye.
It's just…
Goodnight.
Thank you for supporting us.
Thank you for laughing with us.
Thank you for letting us become a tiny part of your lives.
And most of all…Thank you for making our little shop so much more than a store.
