DiMarzio PAF 59 Bridge Guitar Pickup, Relic White

These days, it seems as if everyone's looking for the legendary sound and dynamics of the original “Patent Applied For” pickups. Utilizing Larry DiMarzio's 1959 Cherry Sunburst Les Paul® for reference, DiMarzio used the same materials as 1959, gifted ears, and decades of winding experience to create the new PAF® 59 pickups. Larry says the PAF® 59 Neck and Bridge models were built following an “old family recipe.” We started with a 2-½-inch degaussed Alnico 5 magnet. The 42 AWG enamel wire coils are un-dipped and scatter wound. They're tuned to capture the guitar's voice and dynamics without coloring it. The PAF® 59 Neck and Bridge models feature Double Cream™ butyrate bobbins on our long-leg nickel/silver base plate just like the originals. They are also available with black or black & cream butyrate bobbins.

J. Rockett Audio Designs Blue Note Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal

The Blue Note gives you a very woodsy blues feel and can achieve more gain than a typical tube screamer (no this isn’t another TS clone just using this as a reference). With the newly added “Hot” switch the pedal is capable of multiple tones. The “Hot” switch adds more gain, more volume and gooses the low mids for a thick juicy feel. The Blue note can be set to run flat in its EQ section or select the “Hot” position for more prominent mids. Since the Blue note can be run in either position it makes it suitable for many applications. This pedal is all about feel and really works well with any guitar/amp combination.

EMG James Hetfield (JH) Signature Guitar Pickup Set, Brushed Chrome

The JH Set is a totally new dimension for EMG with the design being driven solely with the input of James Hetfield. In early 2009 James Hetfield contacted EMG Pickups president Rob Turner and presented him with a challenge: to create a “stealth” looking set that captures the clarity and punch of a passive pickup and still retains the legendary active tone that molded a generation.

Now available in EMG Metal Works Finishes and EMG’s Solderless Installation System components, the JH Set consists of the JH-N (neck) and the JH-B (bridge). Both pickups were patterned after the pickups James has used for 30 years but the end result was a completely different animal. The JH-N has individual ceramic poles and bobbins that feature a larger core and are taller than the 60. This produces more attack, higher output, and fuller low end in the neck position. The JH-B uses the same type of core but has steel pole pieces, unlike the 81 that uses bar magnets. This produces the familiar tight attack with less inductance for a cleaner low end.
