So I just read this question in Backyard Witchcraft by Cecilia Lattari, and I CAN NOT decide which one I’d choose!

What do y’all think?

Lots of love to all my witches of all kinds and Happy Freya’s Day!

We’re romanticizing everything today. Lots of love and Happy Freya’s Day!

Hello loves! Today I’m sharing the recipe for my Mystic Truffles with Mugwort!

These lush truffles are vegan and infused with the wonderfully moody, deep and mystic herb. Mugwort is a bitter plant with a distinct herbal flavor. The chocolate balances out any bitterness, leaving behind a flavor that is a bit unexpected and feels magickal.

I made these with the dried leaves I collected, but you could also use Mugwort powder in the ganache and to roll the truffles in. Or even add some tincture, like I do with the Damiana in the Spellbound Truffles. Just be sure to chop the leaves, if you use them, with a sharp knife. Processing Mugwort will make it go fluffy.

I usually roll my truffles in a sugar blend, but I love these dipped in Chocolate and sprinkled with edible flowers. I’ve used lots of Calendula, which I use in my Lucid Divination blend, and some of my Bloom & Sprinkle.

Swipe for the recipe and happy darker days and traveling deep. Lots of love!

Hello my dears! Today I’m sharing a couple of small woman makers with you that I love to support: and .

The candles are from and I’m utterly in love with her use of vintage mugs, this coffee scent in particular, and all of the lovely attention to detail. From the tops of the candles to the packaging. It’s always a treat to open a box from this shop.

Speaking of details, the other piece I want to show you is this artwork I snagged from . She creates all sorts of gorgeous art (I have a prairie landscape of hers as well), but she’s currently in an encaustic phase and I’m loving it. You can swipe to read all about the thoughtfulness that went into this piece called Gretchen.

If you don’t know about encaustic painting yet, prepare for a new crafty obsession. Shop small this season whenever you can! Lots of love!

Ps: Gretchen is not available. I got her. 😘

I hope you all had a revealing Samhain and are recovering from all that moon magick. Here is the special beeswax tealight for the season!

Each Yule, I present a candle collection for the upcoming year. A candle for each holiday, with each season’s associations. Made on that day, with all that energy. I love slow projects that take time to become. And I’m blaming it on all that crazy Samhain/cosmic energy, but these candles turned out the messiest of all year. And that somehow feels right.

For Samhain this year, I was drawn to Black Tourmaline, Rowan, and Dragon’s Blood.

Black Tourmaline is perfection to work with at Samhain and all the things the season surfaces. Black Tourmaline offers grounding energy, protection, an opening up to the truth, and a bridge to the other sides.

Rowan, beloved by the Goddess and the Fae and known as The Witch’s Tree, is a strong protector. It’s been planted outside homes, strung into garlands, hung over doors, and carried in pockets for generations to offer protection. It is also a powerful aid in divination rituals performed this time of year.

Dragon’s Blood is such a beautiful resin. It melts into a potent red swirl of protection magick and banishing power. It amplifies the energy of a spell or ritual and always feel like that one special thing that makes it all happen.

I’ll be having a mini Yule update the Monday after Thanksgiving (the 27th). There will be Yule shop staples, including Wishing Stones and a restock of Chain Coral, a few fun offerings like the beloved Yule Charm, AND the annual Tealight Collection. Lots of love!

I love a galette! So easy. So chic. A galette is a free form pastry filled with scrumptious fruit. I love to use puff pastry for this. Buttery, premade, flaky, and always a show stopper. This galette is filled with Apples, Cinnamon, and Cardamom.

Apples have been used for the sacred for generations. Cut crosswise, an Apple reveals a five pointed star, a symbol of The Goddess. They have long been a symbol of life’s continuation, making them a perfect ingredient for the Dumb Supper or any Samhain days celebration. In the Celtic tradition, Apples were actually buried during Samhain as food for those souls waiting their turn to be reborn to this world. Save an apple to do this after your baking!

Cinnamon is used in sacred rituals as well, to offer protection and to boost the power and intention of the working. Cardamom amplifies the love magick that Apples offer. Cardamom is an old world aphrodisiac that is said to open the mind, perfect for a time when the veils are thin.

Swipe for the recipe or find it in my stories. Bon Apetit and Happy Magickal Baking! Lots of love!

Here it is! My recipe for Cinnamon Apple Bread with Brown Butter Chestnuts!

A hearty, spiced bread, brimming with locally picked Apples and Chestnuts, is just the thing for Samhain days. Apples have been viewed as sacred and magical for generations. Cut crosswise, an Apple reveals a five pointed star, a symbol of The Goddess. They have long been a symbol of life’s continuation. They boost love magic and are said to attract the Fae. In the Celtic tradition, Apples were buried at Samhain as food for those souls waiting their turn to be reborn to this world.

Chestnuts are ruled by Jupiter, planet of expansion and abundance. Placing them around your home adds that abundant energy to your space. Cooking with them offers the same magick! Chestnuts are ruled by fire. I love this aspect too, since they need fire to be accessed and eaten. That fire also contributes to their use as an aphrodisiac that stirs desires.

This bread is a great foundation for fall flavors. I spiced mine with a lot of Cinnamon (boosts the magick) and a smattering of fresh Nutmeg (to connect during the thinning veil). We studded ours with dark Chocolate chips (a must in this house) and local Chestnuts. But feel free to use any nut, fruit, or addition you like. The recipe is very accommodating.

Tomorrow I’ll share more Apple kitchen magick. Lots of love!

Chestnut season! I’ve loved using the protective energy and spiky husks of Chestnuts in sympathetic magick. I always keep one, with my beautiful Pyrite orb, next to a picture of my boys.

And when I discovered that they grow where we now live, getting them picked locally has inspired me to learn more about their magick and their kitchen uses. In fact, I have a great recipe I’ll share with you tomorow.

Aside from the popular Christmas song, my first real curiosity about Chestnuts started after reading about them in The Hunger Games. Anyone remember how they cooked them by throwing them against the force field?

Not only are they a great Samhain food because they’re in season, they are also eaten in Japan on New Year’s Day for success and strength in the new year. Since Samhain is the Witch’s New Year, I love this correlation.

Chestnuts are ruled by Jupiter, planet of expansion and abundance. Placing them around your home adds that abundant energy to your space. Cooking with them offers the same magick!

Chestnuts are ruled by fire. I love this aspect too, since they need fire to be accessed and eaten! That fire also contributes to their use as an aphrodisiac that stirs desires. I’ll also share some Chestnut fire magick with you in the upcoming days.

Now that we’re out of the update haze and I have a plan for the upcoming season, I just wanted to share my gratitude again for another beautiful turn with you all. I am working on a mini Yule update for November 27th that will have Yule favorites (yes, the Yule Charm will be back!) and the annual tealight collection. There will also be a new little ritual thing I’ll be starting for this upcoming year. Like the cuvette, bells, and trine of the last few years. Lots of love!

Y’all! New (old) recipe! New (old) tradition! I stumbled upon this recipe last Samhain and have been anticipating trying it out for so long. And, it was worth it.

This is Libum, a sacrificial cake that was offered to household spirits during Rome’s early days. The recipe has lasted time and was found in a Roman consul’s writings on simple recipes for farmers. His name was Cato and he explains the quantities and how the cakes were used in religious rituals this time of year. The cakes were enjoyed, but also left out to appease any spirits in the home.

Sometimes served hot, sometimes at room temperature, these little “cakes” are often referred to as cheesecakes. But it’s not like the cheesecake we think of. It’s really a truly unique flavor and texture for me. Like bread, but cheesy. But not like cheesy bread, because it’s made with a mild cheese. The texture is kind of like a custard-bread, without that eggy flavor.

They’re baked on top of Bay leaves (protective), and I can’t even say what an amazing little detail this is and the aroma and the subtle flavor imparted is divine. Out of the oven, they’re set on a plate of honey where they then soak in that goodness.

Swipe to see a gorgeous version topped with all the beautiful things. Totally go for that! Here I left them traditional, as I read that Romans wouldn’t have wasted expensive Pine Nuts etc on a dish of food left out as an offering. I did cut an 8 point star into the tops for The Wheel, and because it’s pretty.

Swipe for the recipe and happy kitchen witching! Lots of love!

Soul Cakes for Samhain! Soul Cakes are small round spiced cookies, somewhere between a biscuit and a cookie. They are made for Samhain to celebrate and commemorate the ones we’ve lost.

Traditionally, soul cakes would be given out to children and the poor who would go from door to door begging for alms or “Souling” on All Soul’s Day. The giving and receiving of soul cakes started in the Middle Ages and is widely believed to be the origin of trick or treating.

My recipe here uses dried Apricots because me and my grandmother Monie loved to share them with each other and now I’m sharing them with you. Apricots offer a heartwarming, peaceful energy that draws us closer to those we love. Feel free to let inspiration guide you on the fruit choice or use the traditional raisins or any other dried fruit you love. The iconic look of the soul cake comes from the “+” mark cut into the dough before baking.

I cut mine with Nanny’s cutter that she passed down to Monie, who passed it down to me.

Happy Samhain Days! Here’s a little bonus content from our Halloween celebrations last night, since this is a space for magick!

We are huge Harry Potter Fans and have dressed up like the characters a couple times before. Once when the boys were little: we were Harry, Draco, Hermione, and Snape. A couple years back we were Sirius, Newt, Trelawney, and Dumbledore.

This year we came back to the series with an emphasis on book 5 and Harry’s enemies. Quidditch-style Harry was surrounded by Draco, Lucius as a Death Eater, and yours truly as the despicable Umbridge.

I hope you’re all recovering from a crazy few days of cosmic and practical wild energy. Sending lots of love and a recipe coming up next!

Thanks to my friend for snapping this first pic of me since I never manage to get my own picture taken!
