The Friends have been promoting and supporting the Troy Public Library for over 50 years! The Friends Shop on the first floor of the Library is open as staffed.

The Book Shop sells a wide variety of donated items in very good to excellent condition including books for adults and children, paperbacks, magazines, movies, music, collectors books, puzzles and games. Book Shop Hours Saturdays 10-1PM and Sundays 1-4PM

Troy Daze is here—and so are we! 🎪🎡🎢

Just a quick reminder: the Troy Public Library and our bookshops will be closed this weekend from Friday 9/18 to Sunday 9/20 so everyone can enjoy the festivities. But don’t worry, you won’t have to go a whole weekend without us!

Troy Daze is beside the summer reading kickoff in June one of our biggest outreach events and we’re looking forward to it every year! We have hundreds of books to give away for FREE and since we got rained out in June there are even more this year!

📍 Find us on the west side of Civic Center Drive, just south of Town Center Drive. Look out for the Scarecrows and you can’t miss us!

Labor Day Weekend Update from the Friends of the Troy Public Library! 💙

While the Library and the Friends Bookshop will be closed Saturday 9/5 until Monday 9/7 for Labor Day, our volunteers certainly aren’t taking a break. They’ve been hard at work behind the scenes, keeping the momentum going for our community.

🦖 Booker T‑Rex Has Arrived!
We’ve added new kids merchandise to our online store featuring Booker T‑Rex, the fun new mascot of the Troy Public Library — you’ll also spot him on the brand‑new children’s library cards. He’s already a hit with our youngest readers.

💛 Outreach Across Our Communities
In recent weeks, several boxes of books made their way to the McLaren Hospital in Detroit, and more boxes have gone out to classrooms and Little Free Libraries in neighborhoods across Pontiac and right here in Troy. Sharing stories and sparking joy is at the heart of what we do.

🗓️ Reopening After the Holiday
Our Friends Shop in the lobby will reopen on Tuesday and will be open throughout the week.

It’s time to celebrate the 2024 Woodward Dreamcruise! 🚗🚙🛺
This weekend, our Center Table is tuned up with richly illustrated Coffee Table books that will make your heart race faster than a Pontiac GTO hitting the quarter mile at Pomona Dragstrip!

From Ford Motor Company to Porsche, Muscle Cars to Concept Cars – we’ve got it all! Step back to the golden era of the 1950s and 60s when styling and horsepower were king. Relive the glory days when chrome, tailfins, and two-tone paint jobs ruled the roads, and every gear shift gave you whiplash.

📚 Weekend Bookshop Update!
Our shelves are looking fantastic again — thanks to our amazing volunteers — and we’ve refreshed the shop with a mix of favorites and new finds.

🌍 We’ve stirred in some wonderful leftovers from last week’s “Around the World” display, and added a fresh selection of photography books ranging from Ansel Adams classics to modern photography gems.

🍳 Don’t miss our special carts this weekend:

• A cart packed with wonderful cookbooks, chef’s pick all priced to go.
• Two carts filled with records from every genre for music lovers.

And of course, the rest of our shop is always stocked with books for all ages and interests — fiction, nonfiction, DVDs, CDs, games, puzzles, and magazines — all refreshed weekly.

Every purchase supports the Troy Public Library and helps fund programming and more. Come treasure‑hunt with us this weekend!
