Originally designed for radio and television broadcasts, the RCA BA-6A has become a legendary compressor/limiter in the recording studio. It’s known as a go-to on acoustic guitars, but also sounds incredible on bass, snare, and electric guitar, adding loads of character and grit.

Mix engineer Shiftee (Doja Cat, Janelle Monáe, Teddy Swims) recently moved into a new studio in Brooklyn, and when it came time to select monitors, the Neumann KH 420 quickly became the clear choice.

"When I built this space, I wanted to try different speaker options, and the KH 420 was obviously on the list," Shiftee says. "Once I started working on them, I didn't think about them at all. I just thought about sound, and I realized that they're an incredible, intuitive tool, especially for working and hearing sound that is accurate."
