🐈⬛ There is no way to explain the feeling of becoming the book lady…
This morning I can’t even find all the gratitude needed for this experience as I wheel my wagon back to my tiny bookstore. Flooded heart and eyes. ❤️
A glimpse- She invited me in, showed me her books all in tiny neat piles all over the furniture. She can’t keep them all, can’t move them again. That’s why I’m here… Cookbooks, Local, Apache post it notes stuck to the front covers. She excitedly showed me her favorites, sharing snippets of the stories as she recalls, remembering why she was drawn to that book, why this one is important, or that one time she studied this subject for months with intent concentration to now barely recall the main point, or the pain that wells in her eyes as she asks do I know about this artist…
”well you have to learn all this”- Eunice
Me- “I’m learning it right now”
Not just the 100 tiny book reviews but her life weaved in, she used to make pastries for Rhonda at Black Cat back in the day as she ran her restaurant White Coyote. Sharing her next journey and life as she grapples with letting go of these old book friends that have been moving with her. She tells me to come back later she isn’t ready to let go of some of them go yet, but she will be.
Invited in to someone home to look at their books- what an honor...
To be able to sit and feel the energy of a life well read, and well lived- a magical moment.
To be rehoming these books to all of you and to those who come and wander the shelf… passion!
Thank you Eunice, this is her, and this woman inspires me endlessly!
