Nutmeg is diabetic. What does that mean?

Diabetes is a potentially life threatening disease. It develops when dogs bodies cannot control the glucose levels in their blood.

Damage to the pancreas causes a reduction in insulin production.Insulin is responsible for controlling glucose levels in the blood.

Common signs include: increased thirst, increased urination, weight loss, appetite loss, fatigue, vomiting, and cataracts.

We manage Nutmeg’s diabetes by sticking to a strict routine. She is fed two cups of prescription dog food every 12 hours. She receives an insulin injection every 12 hours as well.

Please do not give any treats to Nutmeg when you come into the store! Thanks! 🐾

Our birthday sale is over! We will transition back to regular prices next week. But don’t worry, you can still find a great bargain here at Jones Street! And you can always come in and ask to take a picture with our Nutmeg girl.

Today is the last day of our birthday festivities!

If you come around noon, you’ll get to take advantage of $1 clothes/shoes and half off anything else in the store, PLUS we’ll be hanging out with Desert Haven Animal Rescue - Sierra County Humane Society and over 10 adoptable puppies and kitties!

What more could a Saturday need? Maybe an art sale at Artist Abbey from 6pm-9pm to support Hieronymus A. Bogs new album? 👀
