Some Attire language are quite short lived things. They exist for a moment of time and then vanish without a caring thought.
This bit of stylistic nonsense emerged around 1913 and didn’t much last the year. Here is an advert shot from the fall of 1913 advertising the newest novelty, lace spats. I have to wonder why someone would decide that the fall to winter months would be the ideal time to present such a fashion oddity. As a fashion accessory, I don’t honestly find this so odd based on the time. The only thing that is a problem from a rational point of view is why anyone would be wanting to assay something like that in November or January.
Still, this is a point to ponder and a thing to understand. We have always and will ever engage in a measure of silliness with regard to how we choose to present. Our ephemera, the follies we indulge in with regard to the Attire language, are just as deeply communicative, because they reveal our passing thoughts. They are the drifting dreams we might engage about ourselves. Sure many of those dreams vanish with the light, but others linger, and ultimately form new words in the greater Attire language.

Today, I’m thinking about Christina-Taylor Green on what would be her 25th birthday.

She should still be here, celebrating her day with family and friends, but she was shot and killed 15 years ago while waiting to meet me.

At just nine years old, Christina-Taylor had big dreams to make the world a better place—and as a member of her student council, the only girl on her baseball team, and beloved daughter and friend, she was well on her way. Her life and her future should never have been stolen from her.

I carry her memory with me always as I work to build the safer future she deserved.
