How to Properly Use a Dishwasher 🍽️
Whether you have an older or a newer dishwasher, taking the right steps in daily use is important for long-lasting performance.
Pre-rinse or not to pre-rinse - has been a debate for many. Though it may seem conflicting, it’s actually recommended to avoid pre-rinsing your dishes. Especially with newer dishwashers, that are designed to handle food particles, pre-rinsing can actually make the sensors think dishes are cleaner than they are. The best course of action is to scrape off large food chunks before loading and let the dishwasher handle the rest.
When it comes to detergent, use high-quality dishwasher soap or tablets. Older models may require a bit more detergent, but always follow the manufacturer's guidelines. For newer models, using too much detergent can cause buildup damage. And remember, never use regular dish soap! Even though ‘dish’ is in the name, these soaps create excessive suds damaging your machine, and should only be used for hand washing.
Load dishes correctly. Yes there is a right and wrong way. Larger items like pots should always go on the bottom, while smaller items, including glassware, belong on the top rack. Running a cleaning cycle with dishwasher cleaner once a month, especially for older units, will also help prevent clogs ensuring proper drainage.
At 5 Star Appliance Repair, we recommend mindful use to avoid costly repairs and ensure your dishwasher, whether old or new, continues working efficiently.🧽
