Vincent Siqueiros and Cameron Capara were shot outside Venture-N in Tucson this morning.
I am at a loss for words. This was a hate crime.
This man had a list of LGBTQ+ spaces.
I am filled with sadness, anger, confusion, shock and so many more emotions I can't even put into words. This is not ok.
As a bi-woman, married to a man, I understand that I sit in a protective bubble when it comes to how people perceive my q***rness. I opened Monsoon Mystics as a way to create an inclusive space for so many people, including myself. The store became a way for me to become more comfortable in my own skin while allowing others to find a place they belong.
After 3+ years of open doors, hard conversations and q***r joy, we are shocked by this hate and aggression against members of our community. I spent 25 years hiding my q***rness, I will not hide now, we will not dim our light. We stand with the victims, families employees and everyone in the community that is grieving over this targeted violence. Monsoon Mystics will remain an open and inclusive space. We will continue to show up and help build a Tucson that is safe for all.
Resouces for community support will be available via stories and our website as soon as I gather all the info.
