The Mineralogical Record - mineral magazine , or "MR", is considered to be one of the best resources for fine mineral collectors. For years my father wrote for the magazine with his "Letters from Europe" column. It is a must have for collectors and mineral enthusiasts.

For those of you who are not aware, on occasion, with our regular issue, subscribers are presented with a "free" supplemental issue. These supplements are wonderful editions, usually about collectors' collections, accompanied by awesome specimen photography, wonderful stories, history, and educational facts that surround each collector, collectors, club, state, country, museums, particular interest or locality. These supplements are sold individually, but subscribers are not charged extra for them- they come as a part of their yearly subscription. Mars Iron Sulfate: Researchers published findings in March 2026 regarding a previously unknown iron sulfate mineral on Mars, discovered in the Valles Marineris region. This mineral remains stable on the Martian surface due to its extreme dryness.

Meteor shower viewing tips:

Timing: The peak viewing time is between midnight and dawn.

Location: Get as far away from city lights as possible to avoid light pollution.

Comfort: Lie on your back, give your eyes 30 minutes to adjust to the dark, and look up at the darkest part of the sky.

Preparation: Bring a blanket or sleeping bag to stay warm, as the nights can be cold.
