Open Wednesday thru Saturdays 11-5, Sunday’s, 11-4. Located in the Sam Hughes Neighborhood, just a few yards from the Northwest corner of Tucson Blvd and Broadway Rd. We have a large inventory of High-end to Low-brow Vintage Mexican Collectibles, Vintage Mexican Folk Art, Pottery, Textiles, Clothes, Tourist Wares and Furniture.

Oh— we did we mention that a little anniversary happened on the first of this month ?…
If not, it’s our 15th Birthday!!!
Hard to believe, but we’ve been doing this for a decade and a half now. We must be doing something right! And after all these years, we still absolutely love what we do.
The shop is still packed with wares, so we figured it was time to celebrate with a 15th Anniversary Sale!
15 Days of Savings
There are 15 shopping days left in September (we’re closed Mondays and Tuesdays), and each day we’ll be featuring something different at 15% off.
To get things started, Thursday, September 10th:

Check back each day to see what’s on sale. We’ll be leaving a couple of days marked “Coming Soon”—and those days will be for the website and regulars to the shop! Everything on the website will be 15% off on those days, while we’ll have special sales happening in the shop.

Each day, we’ll be hiding a Golden Árbol (our Arte Tree of Life logo) somewhere in the shop.
Find the Golden Árbol and you’ll receive $15 off anything in the shop!
There will be one Golden Árbol and one winner each day. The $15 prize must be redeemed on the day the Golden Árbol is found.

Something special is happening at Arte de la Vida in October/November. An incredibly beautiful exhibition honoring Dia de Mu***os in Oaxaca. Oaxacan Artista Pita Wild C. will be present at the opening and teaching a linocut papel picado workshop with Teresa Diaz the next day. Both events, not to be missed. We will be sharing more images and promotions leading up to event. Teresa’s info can be found on poster Art and third photo shared in this post.

A little birthdate/anniversary happened while we were on the road last week. Arte de la Vida turned 15! We hadn’t forgotten, it just takes us a little longer these days to organize at the shop. We are two very old men who are guilty of procrastination. 😆
Over the past 15 years we have interacted with many souls at our shop and it has been incredibly rewarding and cherished by the two of us. For example, just the other day an engaged couple came into our shop to buy items they wanted to use for an ofrenda they were going to create at their upcoming wedding. They both wanted to honor their family’s past. We found it very moving. That encompasses everything we are about here at Arte. Honoring the past, the history and the legacies of Mexican Folk Arts and sharing that with our customers both long acquainted and new. Another story is the friendship and love we have been blessed with, from Tom Aleto and Karen Elwell. Both very dear to our hearts. Over the years they have shared their knowledge and history with us. Without it we would be a lesser tienda and minus two very good friends. This isn’t the first time that Tom and Karen have commissioned maestro, Gonzalo Palacios to create a painting on tin for us. Both times is has been very moving and touching. Of course we have to share this with you all!
So Thanks for the 15 years, friends and family of Arte! We know it sounds like a cliche, but we couldn’t have done it without you!

We are back!!! Shop has quite a few new treasures from our recent trip to New Mexico. Open 11-4 Saturday and Sunday. Starting next week we are open 11-4 Wednesday thru Sunday. Added a day! Start of Fall, we will add more hours!

A powerhouse life force that transcended her craft and her impeccable talent. Dolly was quite possibly the greatest humanitarian to exist in the music industry. I fell in love with her as a child. I laughed at her comedic talents. Cried at her heartbreaking lyrics and most importantly honored her time here on earth. No one will ever be like Dolly and she deserves every accolade coming her way…
