Today the fish were on the bite for my clients which was different from yesterday. Yesterday we caught 8 fish but only two were larger than 15 inches. Today fourteen of the twenty fish were over 15.5 inches , with the largest bring 18 1/4 inches. I had four clients today, Dwayne and Alex Farrow, Chris Sabosky and Travis Lavoie. We started at the point on shaver and quickly hooked up to a smaller class fish and then a really small fish which would soon change. We started getting larger fish which would become the norm for the day. The fish really wanted the new MAG TACKLE Harmony gold dodger with a orange mini mag hoochie with a gold micro blade. The best depths were 70-91 feet down in around 97-120 feet of water. A great time was had by all. We all agreed that this darn virus wasn’t going to dampen our appreciation of the outdoors, good friends and some laughter.

I had a great time today with Rusty Stivers and his son Coen. We fished Shaver and had a blast. We got fish from 12.5” to 19” The big fish came on MAG Tackle new gold dodgers with a blue bug, bandit dodger (new) with a orange hoochie, and watermelon dodger and hoochie. The best part of the trip was seeing this young man enjoy fishing and becoming more comfortable handling the catch. We stayed in the main channel near the point and towards the dam. The large male is turning already. I can’t wait to see what kind of angler he will become in the future. He was an extremely well mannered young man also, such a pleasure to be around.

I had a great weekend of fishing at Shaver. Saturday I had Robert and Scott Shahan along with John Shehadey. Today I had the Belanger and Sorensen families on board. We caught fish all over the lake. The best spots were the island and Black rock. The fish are turning fast. The scales are going away and the hooked jaws are coming. The best depths were 27’to 39’ at a speed of 1.6. We used Mag Tackle hoochies in white, pink and orange with orange tiger disco and Stealth Dodgers.

The Barnett family and the Gordon White family will be enjoying their catch from this weekend. Damon,Jamie, Aiden and Brennan Barnett got their limits by 9:30 on Saturday. Gordon White and his wife Theresa were able to get limits in trout and Kokanee today. We used Mag Tackle orange tiger disco dodger and pink and chartreuse hoochie as well as pink Stealth and orange brass glitter blade hoochie. Fish were 27’-43’ near the island at 1.4-1.7 mph

The bite was steady today at Shaver. Ted Salyer,Bill Thompson, Lloyd Lew and Wayne Fox put their limits in the boat. We only lost a few and released some of next years fish which is very encouraging. Mag Tackle Orange tiger disco with orange hoochie was our best lure today. Water temp is holding at 68 degrees. Best area was along the point to Sierra Marina.

Father daughter time this morning Hannah came out for an hour and a half and caught her limit. We had a great time.

Friends and fishing has to be the best recipe for a good life. I had the best day on the water with my lifelong friends Kelly Jung, Willie Oliveira and Darrell Smith. We had our Kokanee limits and two trout by 8:30 and then headed to catch some bass. They adapted well to the soft mouth Kokanee by only losing 4 fish all day. We finished the day with some Kokanee sandwiches at our condo that my wonderful wife Cheryl made. Blessed to have such good friends. What a day!!
