Long before it became Mercury Lounge, 1747 S. Boston Ave. was keeping Tulsa rolling one tank at a time.

This 1959 image shows Andy Anderson’s DX Service Station, part of a location whose story stretches all the way back to 1926 when Transcontinental Oil Co. first built a filling station at the corner of 18th & Boston.

Over the decades the station changed hands more than once, but remained a neighborhood staple. In the late 1950s, the original station was cleared and rebuilt into the sleek midcentury-modern DX station seen here, complete with expanded pumps, more parking, and a three-door garage built to handle Tulsa’s growing car culture.

The old station stayed active into the late 1990s before finding new life in 2005 as Mercury Lounge: a former service station reborn into one of Tulsa’s best-loved dive bar and historically famous live music venue.

Different fuel. Same purpose. Stop by and fill your tank with cold beer & strong spirits.

We officially lit our Gateway sign this evening. What a great way for Tulsa to welcome travelers to the Capital of Route 66.

It’s gonna be a historic weekend in Tulsa.

Classic car folks, Saturday, May 30th, 2026 is YOUR day. The Route 66 Capital Cruise rolls down the Mother Road starting at 11th & Yale and cruising all the way to 11th & Denver.

After the parade, swing by Mercury Lounge at 1747 S. Boston Ave. We’re just about a mile from the route inside and old Marathon/DX/Sinclair service station turned beloved dive bar and nationally known music joint.

Grab a cold one, snap a few photos, and keep the Route 66 spirit alive.
