Throw away those old dusty books? No way. 🤭

As creatives, we know the value of a good old book, and giving one a makeover really fills up your cup. IOD Artisan Alena used the Alfred Peats & Co. Paint Inlay on a stack of thrifted books, and we immediately put it on our list of DIY to-dos. The border elements of this inlay are just perfect for book spines. 😍

Here's how she did it:

✨ Remove the book covers to expose the spines OR keep them on and paint just a small portion of the front
✨ Cut out your chosen elements from the inlay
✨ Make sure your paint is sufficiently moist before laying the inlay down
✨ Smooth and press the inlay in gently. Use a brayer if you have it!
✨ Leave to dry fully. Alena had a hot sunny day outside, and it worked beautifully
✨ Lightly moisten the backing paper with a damp paper towel and peel back to reveal the most satisfying vintage finish
✨ Want to take it even further? Alena suggests an antiquing glaze would be absolutely stunning 🤭
