What a thrill it has beenđ«¶
I made small hobby of reselling on FB into a actual profitable "small business" and it has been so fun!
This whole journey started off with a bang and I was having a blast. Then my life was flipped upside down and over again this year. Our family went through what I would never wish on my worst enemy. Navigating and balancing has been tough and I almost gave up. Luckily I am finding the joy in it again! Hope this holiday season will be even more fun!
When you shop at an antique mall, it can be easy to see rows of booths filled with beautiful things. But what we hope you also see are small businesses.
Every single booth in our mall is truly a small business, and behind each one is a person with a story, a goal, and a reason for doing this work.
Some of our vendors stepped away from traditional careers to do this full-time. Some are working toward the dream of someday being able to.
Some do this so they can stay home with their children while still contributing to their family income. Some are earning the âextrasâ â sports fees, dance lessons, summer camp, vacations, Christmas gifts.
Some are helping their parents liquidate collections to supplement retirement income. Some are preparing to downsize their homes. And some simply love the thrill of the hunt â finding something forgotten, researching its history, bringing it back to life, and creating a beautiful vignette that makes someone stop and smile.
The motivations may be different, but the work behind every booth is much the same.
Budgeting. Planning. Sourcing. Repairing. Cleaning. Researching. Pricing. Tagging. Packing. Hauling. Unpacking. Styling. Restocking. Finding supplies. Bookkeeping. And then doing it all over again.
All while keeping up with jobs, families, homes, appointments, ballgames, laundry, dinner, and everyday life.
It is creative. It is rewarding. It is fun. But make no mistake â it is work.
So when you choose to spend $8 on a vintage dish, $25 on a piece of home décor, $50 on a collectible, or $100 on that piece of furniture you fell in love with, you are doing more than buying something.
You are supporting someone's small business.
You might be helping pay for a child's summer camp. You might be helping someone stay home with their babies. You might be helping a retiree stretch their income a little further. You might be helping someone build the courage and savings to finally leave their day job and pursue this dream full-time.
And you're helping keep small businesses â and the people behind them â going.
