Participating producers include farmers, food and beverage producers, artisans, craftspeople and fine artists. Their stories and products are featured here on this page, on our website www.MethowMade.com, and at retail displays around the Methow

Valley. Methow Made is a program of TwispWorks, whose mission is to increase economic vitality in the Methow Valley through programs in agriculture, education, technology, art and culture. Methow Made was developed through an extensive collaborative process involving hundreds of community members. Some moments with the renowned Sara Ashford of Culler Studio, a textile and dye artist with a studio on the TwispWorks campus.

Sara’s space is exploding with inspiration, packed to the gills with patterns, trinkets, tools, and textures. Vials and jars filled with vivid color line the walls, vibrant paintings and radiant fabric hang from every surface available. A garden of indigo awaits just outside her south window.

Sara has been at this for over twenty years. She discovered her passion for color, pigment, and dyes when her children were in their pre-teens. Already working with textiles, weaving, and crocheting for some time, it wasn’t until she happened upon a natural dye class at a weaving conference in Coopville, taught by dye master and UNESCO award winner Michele Wipplinger, that she found her inspiration.

“I just saw the colors it could make, I couldn’t believe it.” Michele and Sara would go on to work together on many projects; Michele acted as a mentor and guide for many techniques that Sara uses today.

The legendary Samantha Carlin of Lucid GlassWorks 💪🏻

Sam's dotted tumblers are an absolute classic, perfectly sized and in a variety of colors that fit with every kitchen.

Lucid Glass can be found beyond the Methow Valley, filling shops in Alaska, Wyoming, and Colorado ☀️

On June 14th, Sam will be giving a short presentation at Methow Valley Goods' Sip and Shop, starting 5:30pm. Hope to see you there! 🧡

Some magical moments with our esteemed Methow Made member Lost River Winery!

We are so fortunate to have this incredible winery right here in the Methow Valley. Signature blends from Lost River, such as the Cedarosa and Community Red, have been gracing the dinner tables of locals for almost two decades.

Pictured here is the bottling process for the Nebbiolo, a single varietal wine hailing from Northern Italy. You can pick up a bottle at any grocery store in the Valley, but you should stop in at the their tasting room in Winthrop to try all the options!

Some moments with Laura Gunnip of Fireweed Printshop and her ILC intern Kip FritzHaberland!

Fireweed Print Shop is a community print shop and art studio, home to two etching presses, antique letterpresses, and screen printing facilities. Located on the Twispworks campus in the south room on the first floor of the Bernie Hosey Building, Fireweed is a space of radical self-discovery and creative energy, packed to the brim with color, joy, and life.

Got a chance to catch up with the legendary Sara Ashford of Culler Studio!

Culler Studio is the work of textile and dye artist Sara Ashford, located in the south studio of Building O. Sara was among the first partners of TwispWorks, procuring and renovating her studio almost thirteen years ago when the campus was still in its infancy.

Sara’s space is exploding with inspiration, packed to the gills with patterns, trinkets, tools, and textures. Vials and jars filled with vivid color line the walls, vibrant paintings and radiant fabric hang from every surface available. A garden of indigo awaits just outside her south window.

n her kitchen, four vats of deep turquoise liquid are continuously fermenting, a process that requires her to stir every day. The liquid will soon become a solid concentration of immensely valuable natural blue dye. Another massive open container is filled to the brim with the dry leaves that will meet a similar fate.
“I’m trying to get 15 pounds of dry indigo leaves, which is hard, they’re so light. I need that much for a Japanese technique I’m trying out this year.” A sentiment she shares a lot: always experimenting, tweaking, and testing.

If you're looking for a gift that is delicious, unique, and local, look no further than Pixie Mead (www.pixiemead.com), handcrafted by lovely Benjamin Pixie and Maeyoka Brightheart.

Benjamin Pixie made his first mead before he was old enough to purchase it. He shared it with friends in the mountains, near the fireweed bloom from which that honey had been gathered. Benjamin found himself running through the dark forest offering sacred libations to his friends to sweeten, buzz, and bewilder their senses. He found his calling in life as the bearer of this golden elixir of delight and soon dove deep into mead making.

Adorn your ears with some local love from Methow Musings! ❄️✨💎

Over three decades of teaching elementary children taught Boo Schneider to be open to new ideas, to embrace the joy of life-long learning, and to create.

When she and her husband George transitioned from part-timers to full-timers in the Methow, she was newly retired and savoring the beauty, the bounty, and the fun, diverse community. A neighbor invited Boo to hang out in her jewelry studio, teaching her a few basic skills. She found it meditative to try different styles and shapes, play around with different stones....and she fell in love with the depth of copper.

Boo uses a jeweler’s grade of copper and stones such as labradorite, moonstones, pearls, agates, and many more. Methow Musings is a fitting name since Boo never knows what she is going to create when she sits down at her work bench. Perhaps this is a lesson learned from all those memorable students. You can find Boo’s work throughout the Valley in Twisp at the Methow Valley Goods retail store on the TwispWorks campus (OPEN 11-4, WEDNESDAY-SATURDAY) and at The Confluence. In Winthrop at the Courtyard Quail and in Mazama at the Mazama Store.
