The Tyler Creek Farm & Mini Mercantile

The Tyler Creek Farm & Mini Mercantile Tyler Creek Farm was settled by Thomas and Matilda Figgatt in 1780 and is still in the family nine generations later. A labor of love.

Our Mini Mercantile farm stand carries on that legacy with fresh provisions, handmade goods, and the things we grow, bake, and create. Tyler Creek Farm is a Kanawha County Century farm. Established in 1904 the Figgatt family has provided safe and nutritious foods to the community as a way of life.

A little schedule update from the farm! No baked goods again this weekend.

I’ll be working out of town Aug 8-12th, then heading straight into the West Virginia State Fair Aug 13-18th.

Regular egg buyers, no worries! The Fix It All Guy is flying home from working on the West Coast tonight and will be holding down the fort while I’m away, keeping the dogs in the lifestyle they’ve become accustomed to and keeping the Mini Mercantile stocked with fresh eggs and honey a couple of times each week.

Coming to the State Fair of West Virginia? Come see us at the Gus R. Douglass Building with the West Virginia Department of Agriculture Country Store! We’ll have Tyler Creek Farm goodies stocked and ready for you.

Did I mention we have eggs at the Merk? LOTS of eggs and more coming tomorrow!

Hope to see some familiar faces at the fair!

Thank you so much for your patience while we’ve been busy bottling honey!

It’s been a whirlwind around here as we prepare for the West Virginia State Fair, and we truly appreciate your patiece with the lack of inventory in the Mercantile while we’ve been putting in the extra hours.

If you’re heading to the fair, be sure to stop by the Gus R. Douglass Building, where you’ll find our honey and other Tyler Creek Farm favorites every day. I’ll also be spending time doing honey tastings and filling in at the West Virginia Association of Conservation Districts booth in the West Virginia Building when I can, so there’s a good chance we’ll cross paths!

See you at the fair!

No Baked Goods This Saturday!

We’re spending the day bottling up fresh honey straight from the hives!

The mercantile will still be stocked with honey, farm eggs, pet treats, and other mercantile favorites by 10 AM.

Fresh baked goodies will be back soon!

Thanks for your understanding and support while we tackle one of our sticky farm jobs! 🍯

Hey friends!

August is just about here, and it’s always my busiest month at work. I have several major projects with deadlines only a couple of weeks apart, so life gets a little hectic for a while.

The exciting part is that our brand new 2027 natural resource education materials will soon be available to more than 3,000 conservation districts across the country. We are also launching a new Family Urban and Backyard Native Habitats Kit, and I’m so excited to finally share it with everyone!

The flip side is that I’m the developer, author, and designer of it all, so I have to put my full focus into getting every last detail just right.

That means I’ll be (mostly) taking a little break from baking for the Mini Mercantile during August. We’ll still have our shelf stable favorites, fresh honey, farm eggs, and pet treats, so there will still be plenty to browse.

Thank you so much for understanding and for always supporting us. It truly means the world to me.

I didn’t get a chance to post this morning because I left home before 6:00 a.m. to volunteer at the DEKA Qualifier. What an incredible day! Every single athlete gave it their all, and it was so much fun watching them compete. Congratulations to everyone who participated! 💪🏻

Now that I’m finally home, it’s time for the Mini Mercantile update:

• Fresh eggs
• Reese Cup Cakes
• Lemon Champagne Cakes (alcohol free)
• Oatmeal Cream Pies
• Rich Chocolate Cookie Sandwiches with Peanut Butter Icing
• Restock on all of Follow Our Lead Tuesdays Naturally Dog Treats!

Don’t forget, our shelf stable favorites are always available, too! Our local Honey • Local Maple Syrup • Coffee • Smoked Salts • and more!!

While you’re out enjoying your Sunday tomorrow, swing by the Mini Mercantile and grab your favorites before they’re gone. Thanks for supporting our lil bitty farm store.

We’ll see you at the Merk!!

Do not eat from flooded gardens.

I’ll say it once, and ten times. You’ve got the yards of a thousand pooping dogs washing through and that IS NOT fertilizer.

If your FIELDS or GARDEN have been impacted by FLOOD WATER, fruits and vegetables may pose a health risk! Find out more, at: https://resources.producesafetyalliance.cornell.edu/documents/Food-Safety-for-Flooded-Farms.pdf.
