To our beloved community and supporters near and far…..
We are reaching out today to solicit support from you to help us continue the Uhrichsville Farmers Market in our community. Over the past several months we have attended council meetings, held discussions with individuals, and offered suggestions to the local governing bodies for a reasonable and respectful special event and food truck permit system that would benefit all parties involved. Our requests to meet and have open discussions about the matter were met with silence. One of our councilmen, the President of Council, urged his council to reconsider the original draft of the proposed ordiances, given the extensive feedback given to the city from the community. Council continued to move forward with the original draft, passing with a unified yes on May 23rd. This past week, we were given both the special event and food truck permit applications, as well as the fees associated with both. The City of Uhrichsville is asking that all special events pay a $150 per day permit fee, both for-profit and non-profit businesses. The Uhrichsville Farmers Market (UFM) is a grass roots, non-profit organization, in our second season. As a non-profit, being asked to pay a $150 per day permit fee is not sustainable for UFM. For the community we live in, a $150 per day permit fee is nowhere near reasonable. In addition to special event permits, a food truck permit was also passed with additional fees. As it stands, this newly added permit is proving to be cost prohibitory and burdensome to our food truck vendors, with several starting to cancel because of it.
We need your help! In order to keep the Uhrichsville Farmers Market operational, we are in need of sponsors and donors for the remaining 8 markets, which amounts to $1200.00 for the 2024 season. If you feel inclined to make a donation, to sponsor a market date, and/or help defer the cost of the food truck permit fee, please contact us at [email protected], visit our information booth on Friday, July 12th, or choose to make a donation via our website www.uhrichsvillefarmersmarket.com.
If you feel that the newly passed ordinances and permits will hinder the growth of future events in the City of Uhrichsville, we encourage you to utilize your voice by reaching out to the mayor and council of Uhrichsville.

Your support, both in person and financial, are greatly appreciated. It takes a village to do what we do here on the 2nd and 4th Fridays, June-October, and you all are very much a part of this beautiful process to uplift our community.
