🌸 🌿 Plant of the Week: Angelonia 🌿 🌸

Looking for a plant that thrives through Florida’s hottest months while providing nonstop color? Meet Angelonia, often called the Summer Snapdragon!

10% off July 14th-18th during our business hours outside (no discount when paying inside with Sunsationals staff) Tuesday-Friday 9-2 Saturday 9-4

☀️ Loves the Heat: Angelonia flourishes in full sun and laughs in the face of summer heat and humidity, making it a perfect choice for Florida landscapes.

🌼 Long-Lasting Blooms: From spring until frost, it produces beautiful spikes of purple, pink, white, blue, or lavender flowers that add vertical interest to flower beds, borders, and containers.

🦋 Pollinator Friendly: Bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators are drawn to its nectar-rich blooms, helping support your local ecosystem.

💧 Easy Care: Once established, Angelonia is drought tolerant and requires very little maintenance. No deadheading is needed to keep the flowers coming!

🌱 Growing Tips:
• Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily).
• Use well-draining soil.
• Water regularly while establishing, then only during extended dry periods.
• A light trim in midsummer can encourage even fuller growth and another flush of blooms.

🌼 🌿 Plant of the Week: Coreopsis (Tickseed) 🌿 🌼

Looking for a plant that delivers bright color with very little fuss? Coreopsis is a favorite that blooms for months, attracts pollinators, and thrives in the summer heat!

10% off July 7th-11th during our business hours outside (no discount when paying inside with Sunsationals staff) Tuesday-Saturday 9-12

☀️ Light: Full sun (6+ hours daily)
💧 Water: Water regularly while establishing, then it’s very drought tolerant.
🌱 USDA Zones: 4–10 (Performs beautifully in Central Florida!)
📏 Size: Typically 1–3 feet tall and wide, depending on the variety.
🌼 Bloom Time: Late spring through fall, with repeat blooms if spent flowers are removed.

✨ Why You’ll Love It:
🐝 Attracts bees and butterflies
🦋 Excellent pollinator plant
🌞 Loves heat and humidity
💛 Produces cheerful blooms in shades of yellow, gold, orange, red, pink, and even bi-color varieties
🌿 Low maintenance and easy to grow
✂️ Great for borders, flower beds, containers, and cut flower arrangements

🌸 Florida Growing Tip:
Coreopsis thrives in well-draining soil and doesn’t like “wet feet.” A light trim after a heavy bloom flush encourages fresh growth and even more flowers throughout the season.

🇺🇸 Fun Fact: Coreopsis is the official state wildflower of Florida, making it a beautiful way to add a touch of native charm to your landscape while supporting local pollinators.

Bring home some sunshine with Coreopsis—it’s proof that a hardy plant can still put on an incredible show all season long! 🌼💛

🌿 🌈 Plant of the Week: Caladiums! 🌈

Looking to brighten up your landscape? Caladiums are one of the easiest ways to add a splash of vibrant color to your garden! Their heart-shaped leaves come in stunning shades of red, pink, white, and green, making them a favorite for Florida landscapes.

💥BOGO💥 June 30th-July 4th during our business hours outside. Tuesday-Saturday 9-12

☀️ Light: Morning sun or bright filtered shade is ideal. Many newer varieties can handle more sun, but they still appreciate protection from the intense afternoon heat.
💧 Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. A layer of mulch helps retain moisture and keeps the roots cool.
🌱 Growing Tips:• Rich, well-draining soil will produce the healthiest plants.• Fertilize every 4–6 weeks during the growing season for lush, colorful foliage.• Remove damaged or yellowing leaves to keep plants looking their best.

Caladiums thrive in Central Florida’s warm, humid climate. They provide beautiful color in garden beds, borders, containers, and shaded patios. While they often go dormant during the cooler months, they’ll return from their tubers when warm weather arrives.

⚠️ Pet Safety: Caladiums contain calcium oxalate crystals and are toxic if chewed by pets or people, so plant them where curious pets and children can’t nibble on them.
Whether you’re creating a tropical oasis or just want a pop of color, caladiums are a beautiful, low-maintenance choice that will brighten your yard all season long!

🌿 Stop by and find your favorite variety this week!

I wanted to share this newer plant at the nursery. They are 8.50 and not to be confused with the plant of the week.

Sunshine mimosa ☀️🪴

Isn’t this the coolest?!

Sunshine Mimosa is one of Florida’s best native groundcovers. Despite its name, it isn’t the invasive mimosa tree—it’s a low-growing perennial that creates a lush green carpet dotted with adorable pink, powder-puff flowers from spring through fall.

Why gardeners love it

🌿 Florida native – Perfectly adapted to Central Florida’s climate.
☀️ Thrives in full sun but also tolerates partial shade.
💧 Drought tolerant once established, making it a great low-maintenance choice.
🦋 Excellent for pollinators and serves as a host plant for several butterfly species.
👣 Can handle light foot traffic, making it a popular lawn alternative.
🌱 Fast spreading by runners, helping fill bare areas and reduce erosion.

Reminder: Our hours for the remainder of this week until July 13 are 9-12 or by appointment.
