Still waiting for confirmation, but there is a good chance the thrift shop will be closed today due to weather conditions - keep checking back for the official decision but meanwhile .....
A true TT story
A few days ago, a Union resident brought some items to donate to the thrift shop -- a bag of still-good shoes -- and our volunteer gratefully accepted his donation.
She carried the bag to the back room to sort, price, and put the items on display. At the bottom of the bag, one pair of shoes was in a box. As we like to collapse cardboard before recycling it, she lifted the tissue paper out to dispose of it then saw an old, scribbled-on bank envelope under the paper. When she picked it up, it felt fat, and when she looked at the open end, it was stuffed with greenbacks -- $20 bills, 39 of them. Wow! She hurried out to the desk to show the other volunteer on duty.
She happened to know the man’s name and was able to leave a message on his phone. “You’ll want to come back to the shop to see what we found in your bag of shoes. You will really like it!”
The Union resident, reunited with the money that same day, expressed his appreciation to the TT volunteer.
