At 5:00 on July 31, 2026, the door of Sew Special in downtown Uniontown was locked as a business serving the community for the final time. I am very thankful for all the customers who have supported us through the years at the alteration shop and have expressed my gratitude in emails, facebook posts and the local newspaper. Today I’d like to recognize my employees.
It has been said that if you see a turtle on a fence post, you can be certain he didn’t get there by himself! And when a business owner has been successful serving their community for more than 30 years, that business owner didn’t get to that milestone by herself either!
I would like to publicly express my deepest gratitude to my employees, both current and past, who helped set me on that fence post and made certain I stayed there when I could easily have fallen off!
Jill, 26 years of loyalty, 100% dedication and commitment to giving her best to every single job, working many all nighters during prom seasons, never complaining, never refusing to do anything that I ever asked (and I have asked some challenging things!) and never one negative word. There are not words to express how grateful I am to call you friend! Tony - ”Tony the Tailor”☺️, thank you for the last 5 years of excellent work! Tony is THE best tailor I know. He never backs away from a challenge and has bailed me out more times than I can count! He has done everything I’ve asked of him with a positive attitude, and some sarcastic humor!😊 Lydia, what a difficult job she has had just keeping me organized and grounded the last 13 years! She knows where my cell phone is at all times 🙂 and what I’m supposed to be doing next! She keeps me on track and moving in the right direction!
To say I will miss working with each of these very special people every week brings tears to my eyes, BUT! the friendships formed and the memories made will live on. Thank you all so much for making us SEW SPECIAL!❤️❤️❤️
