A Wreath Craft Blitz WEEK....this was a fun immersive week for Mary and I...

Here are 35 of the 35 wreaths we designed and created. We have gotten efficient at wiring in the plushies and ornaments and all the little additional surprises people love to find and exclaim about!

Our Calendar shows that our next pop-up Christmas Store is scheduled at American Lake VA Medical Center in Lakewood, WA for 10 days starting Oct 19th thru Oct 30th...Monday to Friday 8 to 4 each day.

Every one NEEDS a "Missy" in their corner! We are delighted to see her again back here at the Seattle VA!
This lady has so much going for her AND she shares her enthusiasm and avid joy of life easily. Patients in SCI (Spinal Cord Injury) here are so very fortunate, especially if she "adopts' you! We met Missy a couple of years ago when she purchased a number of items from us for "her" patients! A more dedicated Nursing Assistant would be very hard to find!

It was our pleasure to work with Missy in designing this USMC Marine wreath for one of her patients that she has cared for over the last number of months!

Wish you all could have heard just how excited and overwhelmed she was when she saw this wreath! "Perfect" and "He's going to love it" were repeated several times and a couple of great hugs for delivering just what she wanted to gift him....

Perfectly represents HER patient and she is going to place the wreath on the back of his wheelchair! Then she tells me he "Always" wears T-shirts....this is what we love about working with our VA locations....the warmth, the care and concern AND commitment to our Vets is papable and so very reassuring!!!❤️🤍💙

The BEST GARAGE SALE FIND IN YEARS!

I arrived at Mary's in time for Lunch...the Plan ...everything one can think of in preparing for or Christmas in July show at the Seattle VA!

Over a bowl of Chicken Cesar Salad Mary tells me about a neighborhood garage sale and shows me photos and I get really excited! They are selling rolls & rolls of NEW buffalo Plaid ribbon!
You guessed it...we head on over and it really is a good sale with a number of great offerings....
I almost passed on the bottle openers til I heard the homeowner explaining how they were trying hard to find a home for what was left???

This is when I decided to tell them about our event coming up and asked if they would like for us to hand them out to the Vets that come by our pop-up Christmas Store! INSTANT agreeable Response!

I true Vet to Vet Gift for those that stop by our Pop-up Christmas Store!

What happened during our set-up today ....Sunday at the Seattle VA

We handed out about 8 of these ... EVERY SINGLE VET was so appreciative!
The moment one of these beautifully engraved openers landed in their hands ...EVERYTHING changed! Their smiles, their disbelief on receiving an item they could use, something that really felt good in their hands! Only one was a paying customer! Five of them were patients! One of those had been there for two weeks and was bored silly wandering the halls in his wheelchair, first apologizing that he had no money to buy any of our Christmas items, yet when he took the opener in his hands ...he stayed and visited with us told stories of where he served and how he had been commissioned to paint some murals because of his own skills! Another, a gal who also apologized for not have money to spend at first responded with anxiety when we asked her to hold up a moment as we pulled out one of the openers to hand to her! What a transformation in her!
Bernell Zorn, we are so looking forward to our week here at the Seattle VA...these openers with your logo beats any Candy dish we have ever had to offer! A small kindness of yours is having a fabulous impact.....THANK YOU

BUSY HANDS....we (Mary and I) are midway through this particular Maker Blitz session!

Our focus this session is Military and Sports themed Wreaths and in another day or so we will concentrate on smaller dioramas and sleds etc.

Can you see some of the vintage finds we have the pleasure of working with? That Brass Button Sailor Bear with the vintage lookingAmericana Ribbon? The collectible Cougar (WSU) Stuffy that looks as if it is crafted from real fur rather than the great quality faux fur that it really was? The 1993 Harley Hog with a collectible toy Harley Bike?

These are a few of our "Upcycled Holiday Decor" designs that augment our inventory that includes our other Wreaths like the oversized Licensed Mickey Kraken Stuffy holding onto a Licensed Kraken collectible toy Hockey Stick and somewhere in that stack is a totally delightful Seahawk Snowman!

BUILDING STORIES!

One day it "clicked"... While explaining to a customer at one of our VA Christmas Stores what popped out of my mouth was that We BUILD STORIES with our designs!

That Stuck and now that is how we describe what we do!

What delights us most is when a customer's eyes light up, that intake of breath, often accompanied by a small (or sometimes a big) excited yelp of Ooooh! AND an almost feverish story of just how perfect what they found is for_______!

Just one example is below.....(Sorry for the poor quality of the photos) the final product almost did not get photographed as we did some last minute builds for our December show!

I just love when I see someone approaching our display and their gaze catches something meaningful to them and you can just see that they cannot get to the table fast enough! So much fun watching our customers!

The details they share about where it will be displayed also very interesting!

FYI....yes! That is a fur covered Banana Hanger that that lovely little plushie Plane is resting on! Great on you for recognizing that I used another one for one of our designs!

Fairwood Golf and Country Club is a happening place...This is a good friend, Carina, who surprised us with being our very 1st Customer as the doors opened and we barely got set up! Then it has been non stop for next 2 1/2 hours...a little breather then it has started up again!
The Hats?....Mary surprised us on Thanksgiving with these....we have gotten so many compliments! Certainly an Oh What Fun moment!!!
