I’m about to do the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my business. 👀

Right now, as I’m typing this, they’re literally gutting an entire building for the sake of my dreams. Taking out the ceilings. Pulling up the floors. Tearing down walls to rebuild from the ground up. It’s the biggest project of my life, I prepared for two years, and I’m still a little scared.

But someone once told me: when you’re afraid of doing something, it’s because you have respect for what you’re about to do. So I’m not waiting until the fear goes away. I’m going through it afraid.

I can’t show you everything yet, but something is coming… 👀

The vinyl arrived white when the rendering was pink. ☠️

My stomach dropped. The Kate Spade team and I had been planning this for weeks and suddenly everything was about to be washed out. Suddenly my nightmare turned to reality and the hardcore second guessing starts to creep in. “Did I get it wrong? Did I send the right file? Was it my printing team who messed up the image? How the HECK am I going to fix this before the even starts!”

As soon as I arrived with what I imagined was a semi-paralyzed face full of fear - I gently pulled a team member from the Kate Spade team and said, “ I am so sorry, but I think the branded prints came out white 😭 when they’re supposed to be light pink! Instantly I held back a tear and the very smart person who could see my panic said “Oh wait let’s check it together”, we went over to the branded step and repeat and to my surprise it was the correct color and I could finally take a deep sigh of relief. Praise God everything we brought was brand. 🙌🏻

The morning of this big activation felt like being a general leading her army into battle. I pulled everyone into a huddle, said “here’s the schedule, here are the changes… go,” Everyone was so in sync they were handing me my scissors before I could even ask!

And that’s the part most people don’t see. The pressure and the high hopes that everything looks as planned. And then the doors open and you get to see a client gasp at seeing their vision come to life. And those 15 seconds feel like winning Olympic gold. And make it all worth it.

What building this company has taught me:

With intention, comes disruption.

The people who win aren’t the ones who never hit obstacles, they’re the ones who take “no” as a challenge instead of an answer. And if things happen, WHICH THEY WILL, you buckle down and make it happen anyway.
