Tech Tip Tuesday:

What choke is in my barrel?

Ithaca Gun Co introduced interchangeable choke tubes in 1984. These tubes were a “Tru-Choke” design and utilized a double lead thread at 44 TPI. Shortly after in 1985 it was switched to a “Win-Choke” design utilizing a single thread lead at 32 TPI. This pattern was utilized until 2006 when the switch was made to the Ithaca Plus choke tube using standard Briley threads, 32 TPI.

The “new” Ithaca Plus tubes are compatible with Invector Plus tubes.

Tech Tip Tuesday.

FAQ: I have a new barrel that says it takes both 2 ¾” and 3” shells, does this mean my 2 ¾” receiver can now use 3” shells as well?

Answer: No. The size of the receiver determines the size of the shell. While you can safely fire a 2 ¾” shell in a 3” chamber, a 2 ¾” receiver is not large enough to eject the 3” shell after firing.

Tech Tip Tuesday.

The M37 is a robust and reliable platform that only requires light applications of oil to function properly. Some of the most common failures we see in our service department stem from customers over lubricating their fi***rm. This can cause debris to build up over time and internal components to not function properly.

As a bottom load, bottom eject receiver, the M37 is naturally shielded from the majority of environmental contaminants, so just a little oil will go a long way.
