Welcome to Bittersweet Hollow, LLC. In 2005, Bittersweet Hollow opened its doors for the first time in the Bernat Mill in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. An old yarn mill built in 1820, Bernat was home to 65 small businesses offering everything from custom built cabinets to rare antiques. The mill’s central location, just off Route 16 made it popular with antique and country store lovers alike. Bitterswe
et Hollow was a great success from the beginning, providing customers with quality primitive gifts and good old quality service. The store was graced with products ranging from beautiful country furniture to table embellishments, rugs, candles, handmade items from local artisans, and a variety of unique accents for the home. It was truly a one-of-a-kind country shop. Early, on the beautiful Saturday morning of July 21, 2007, a fire erupted at the historic mill. The entire building was devastated and all 65 small businesses were destroyed. As heart-breaking as the fire was, it did not deter us from our passion to keep the shop open. We relocated and reopened the shop in September 2007, at a new location on 107 South Main Street in Uxbridge, just about ½ mile from the Bernat Mill. It is impossible to put into words our appreciation for the unparalleled support local townspeople and our wonderful customers have shown us. They were—and continue to be--truly fabulous. Now, years later, we are pleased to say Bittersweet Hollow continues to provide quality primitive and country goods at reasonable prices with outstanding service. We hope that you will visit us soon and see why we say… Country Life is Bittersweet!
