If you've been seeing the alerts from PG&E or Solano OES, there is a planned power outage for parts of northern Vacaville/Pleasants Valley.

Our shop is not on the list of affected addresses so we'll be open our normal hours (10am-5pm).

(In order for the temps to drop drastically this weekend, the weather needs to blow in and that can cause issues in high fire areas.)

On a personal note, our house will lose power this evening and it won't be restored until sometime Monday. BUT, when we rebuilt after the LNU fire, we installed solar with battery back up, so we will still have power except for HVAC, the oven, and dryer. So no cookies will be baked and no laundry will be done, but we'll be functional and won't lose food.

We’ve got the Handi Quilter van coming the last week of October for longarm classes. If you’ve ever wondered if you would even like longarming, this is a perfect opportunity to try it out.

October 27 & 28: Longarming 101. This class is great as a refresher or if you’re just getting started. It covers proper loading of your quilt sandwich (no basting...yay!) and discusses thread, needles, and tension. Then you move on to free motion quilting, utilizing manual mode and stitch-regulated modes. They all have a purpose, but you need to know why and when. Then there’s a bit of ruler work and some computer-guided quilting.

We will be working on the Handi Quilter Amara 20, but this class can apply to any brand as many of the skills taught are not brand specific.

October 29 & 30: Pro-Stitcher Principles & Beyond the Basics. This is an opportunity to learn more about computer-guided quilting. Pro-Stitcher is available on various brands of longarms, so this is not just a Handi Quilter class. This class is applicable whether you have Pro-Stitcher Premium or Lite. We’re doing something different than in the past as this is now a 2-day class, allowing for more in-depth learning time and completing a take-home project.

During these classes we always have special pricing on the machines and gadgets. (HQ pricing goes up 11/1 so this is a great opportunity to buy before the pricing increases.)

Ready for the next step in sewing? Our Sewing Workshop Series is a 4-week series for ages 8+ where students will build new skills while creating a patchwork pillow and an upcycled tee! 🧵

4-Week Series: October 26–November 16 | 6–8 PM

⚠️ Sewing 101 is required before enrolling in the series.

I don't usually need to post this in October, but it seems that summer just won't let go. We've got the A/C cranked and plenty of cold water. Come hang out and do some hand stitching or maybe just socialize. But stay cool!
