Okay, are you as obsessed with Jimothy as I am? (I’m totally obsessed.) He’s the news we needed in 2026! So of course we all need Jimothy stickers, and we have some from Citizen Ruth - Feminist gifts ! Put one on your water bottle and declare your love for your favorite funny little raccoon!

We’re open til 9 tonight along with Jessica Brooks and Monique for Second Friday Vallejo Art Walk so you have some extra hours to come in and get one! Plus Andrea Raynor will be outside with her Kitty Cant art vending machine (and the prizes are SO GOOD this month) along with my fellow Jimothy obsessed Helen Slomowitz-Vienneau and Mystical Tarot Readings by Janet… and TreeBed Design and THE EXCHANGE have fun things happening in their spaces, too. And on Georgia Stinky's Cheese Shop is throwing their last party in that space (stop by for Mac and Cheese and find out about future plans) and autonomous.gallery has an amazing pen and ink art opening with festivities in the breezeway… Plus all the other artists and vendors setting up for Art Walk!

Tonight: LGBTQ Book Club discussion of “Faun” at 5:30!

Thursday: August Summer Nights is happening downtown, and we’re open til 8

Friday: Art Walk 5-9! We’ll be open, and out front Andrea Raynor will be back with her Kitty vending machine (with special prizes and surprises!), Helen Slomowitz-Vienneau with her spectacular scarves and hella cool headbands, and Mystical Tarot Readings by Janet will be set up to read your cards! And we’ll be open selling books, stickers, gifts, and all that good stuff…

And Saturday is Bookstore Romance Day — all romance books on the romance carts will be 25% off! Stock up on spicy reads!

There are 2 days left to donate new books for Another Chapter’s Back to School Book Drive! Come on in and buy a book for kids 0-12 (anything from board books, picture books, series…) so Natalie can get them to little ones to start the school year — and the rest of their lives! — off right.

Badass bookstore owner powers activate!

We had a delightful surprise visit from Sarah, the owner of Fair Arrow Books + Goods ! She opened Fair Arrow in September, bringing books, music, and community to downtown Martinez. She is AWESOME and I’m so happy she’s thriving, and The Bay Area is so lucky to have another great bookstore and integral third space in our midst. Go check them out!

What a glorious, wonderful day we had with our beloved pal, Dave Eggers!

There’s nothing I love more than a line in a bookstore, and the line was long with people from near and far (including Octavia Books in New Orleans!) to meet Dave and have him sign his books — including his new one, “Contrapposto.” And bonus: he gave everyone original drawings!

We love Dave and McSweeney's and all our customers who prove over and over again that the age of reading is not over, and there are so many more stories to be written and read and enjoyed… and worth standing in a long line for. We thank and appreciate you all so much.

If you missed the fun today, Dave was also kind enough to sign extra copies, so stop by!
