One of the things I love most about the Regency era is not simply Jane Austen (though certainly that too 💕), but the graceful femininity of the period—the delicate jewelry, the symbolism, the quiet elegance.

Quite a bit of the inspiration behind Kyly Creations is drawn from that romantic world, so I thought it would be lovely to see how mothers were honored during that time in history.

During the Regency era, families observed Mothering Sunday, a day centered around returning home to visit one’s mother and “mother church.” Children often brought flowers—especially violets—or small handmade tokens of affection, and families gathered together in appreciation rather than celebration as we know it today.

I find it rather beautiful that even centuries ago, motherhood was still honored through love, thoughtfulness, and simple meaningful gestures. 🤍

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, bonus moms, and nurturing hearts today. 🌿
