e outer layers for the henna dyes to go into. Unless you have an allergy to the Lawsone molecule (also called hennotanic acid), henna itself poses no threat to your health; however, some people add certain oils to their paste that may irritate sensitive skin. Products that claim to be "black henna" actually contain PPD, a harmful black hair dye. History of Henna:

Henna has been used since ancient, pre-biblical times as a way of adorning one's body, curing sickness, and paying homage and reverence to the gods. The traditions of henna continue today especially in the Middle East, where it is used on special occasions. Her feet and hands are covered in elaborate bridal mehandi designs, and it is said that until they fade, she is like a guest in her own house-- her new husband does the chores for her! In Moroccan culture, henna is often used to ward off the evil eye. Henna has been used for everything from protection to worship to decoration and still is today. Follow these tips to get a great stain.
*Let the paste dry for at least 1 hour; depending on where the tattoo is, overnight (if possible!) may be best.

*Don't wash the paste off! Instead, scrape it off using your nails or something like a credit card.

*Rub off extra bits of henna with olive oil, not water.

*Try not to get the hennaed skin wet for 12 hours after you remove the paste.

* If the stain isn't very dark when the paste is removed, don't worry! The natural dyes in henna oxidize and the stain will darken over the next 2-4 days.

*Also, avoid pools and/or chlorinated water. These make the skin exfoliate faster, thus making the tattoo fade faster. Try not to scrub too hard in the shower!

Why Inuit have Tranditional Hand Line Tattoos

Sedna - Nuliajuk

Her father told her she had to marry.
He brought her many men, but she refused them.

Sedna told her father she had found someone.
Her dog.. who could turn into a human when they went out onto the land.

In other versions of the story, she chose a man her father did not approve of.
And in some, she was tricked into marriage.

Later, her father took her out onto the sea in his kayak.

A great storm rose.

Fearing for his life, her father threw Sedna overboard.

She clung to the side of the kayak.

To free himself, her father took his knife and cut off her fingers.

As her fingers fell into the ocean, they became the seals, the walrus, the whales.

Sedna sank to the bottom of the sea.

There, she became the keeper of the marine animals.

Her severed fingers became the beginning of life in the water.

But Sedna had no hands left.

She could not brush her hair.

So, from time to time, a shaman would spiritually travel down to the depths of the sea to comb and braid her hair.

If she became angered, her hair would tangle.

And when her hair tangled, the animals would become trapped within it.

There would be no seals.
No walrus.
No whales.

No animals to hunt.

And that is why balance, respect, and proper conduct matter because Sedna is always watching from beneath the sea.

My heart is so full after our Galentine’s in the Park & Altar of the Heart Mini Retreat this weekend 💕✨
Gathering together at Hillsborough River State Park — one of Florida’s oldest state parks and home to our very own beautiful river rapids — felt nothing short of magical. Surrounded by the natural beauty, flowing water, and peaceful energy of the land, we shared space for reflection, connection, laughter, and heart-centered intention.
There is something so powerful about women coming together in nature. This weekend reminded me how much I truly love hosting gatherings, creating sacred spaces, and sharing my gifts with those around me. It filled my cup in ways I can’t even fully put into words.
Thank you to each of you who showed up with open hearts and loving energy. You made this experience unforgettable. 🌿💖
Stay tuned for future events and outings — I can’t wait to gather again.
With love and gratitude,
Na’Chic ✨
