There's something about books that feels like home.

So much of what shaped us growing up can't be handed down. Toys break, houses get sold, and moments slip away. But a story? A story stays. Teaching our kids to read, to get lost in a good book, to feel something as they turn the page, is one of the few gifts that travels whole from one generation to the next.

Books are how we slow down together. How we curl up on the couch, share a laugh, ask "just one more chapter?" They give us a place to meet, no matter how old we get.

It truly is the gift of all generations.

Here's our little family, and the stories that hold us together.

What book is passed down in your family? Comment below!

Let’s go on an Adventure and deliver “Provecho” by Odiseo I SF Chef, Social Media Consultant, Photographer to Provecho Restaurant & Bar just across the street! Provecho is an authentic Mexican restaurant and bar, and we love having them as our neighbors.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to highlight our local Hispanic businesses that take pride in their culture, and Provecho is at the top of that list. We love their mole!

About the chapbook: A Short List of Mistakes Starting With “Owl” by Jeff VanderMeer and Theo Ellsworth

What is it about owls? Who knows? In this series of brief tales, owl encounters take on an absurdist quality and birth new rituals. Modern life is weird sometimes. From the team that brought “Secret Life” from Drawn & Quarterly.

The creators of this comic support human creativity, imagination, and art. Proceeds from sales of this chapbook will go to efforts encourage sustainability, community in opposition to the technocratic state and also in opposition to generative AI.

Tickets are required for this event, please make sure to purchase one ticket for each person attending the event. Tickets provide event entry and include a copy of Jeff VanderMeer and Theo Ellsworth’s chapbook, Short List of Mistakes Starting with “Owl”. Please bring your ticket confirmation email or receipt with you to the event.

Join us for a special author event and costume party with Keith Rosson and Leah Sottile as they discuss Rosson’s new novel CRONE. This is an event you won’t want to miss! 🐦‍⬛

Eli Lamp is a broken man. An ex-detective, ex-addict, and long-grieving father whose daughter, Hannah, disappeared a decade before, Eli decimated his old life investigating her abduction and is now indebted to the Crooked Wheel, a local drug gang, as an enforcer. He lives in a rundown trailer at the edge of the woods, where he keeps Hannah’s room in pristine condition and tries to make it through one day at a time.

But when the son of the Crooked Wheel’s boss is found viciously murdered in a crime scene that doesn’t seem to add up, Eli receives a new order: Find out who the killer is and your debt to the Crooked Wheel is clear forever. You’re free. This pursuit brings him into the orbit of Avery Bryant, Hannah’s best friend and the last person to see her before she went missing. Soon, Eli and Avery are entwined in a hunt for answers that spans decades, stretches the realm of possibility, and brings churning to the surface a conspiracy linking not only these current tragedies but the buried sorrows of Eli’s past.

And though none of them dare say the word witch, at least not out loud, something lurks in the woods, bent-backed and black-eyed, clawed and vengeful, looming ever closer. . . .

Copies of Crone by Keith Rosson will be available for purchase in store and online, Tuesday September 22nd.

By popular demand we are officially launching our Horror Book Club!

Our first meeting will be held Tuesday, October 6th at 6:00 PM. There is a sign-up form linked on our website under the events tab.

Unlike our usual club format, this club will not have a set title every month. Instead, we’ll all read books within the same theme. October’s theme is Haunted Houses.

Check out a few of our recommendations for October’s theme:

House of Monstrous Women by Daphne Fama

This Cursed House by Del Sandeen

Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman

Diavola by Jennifer Thorne
